Biography

f f sargonnas. he/him | god of war f f |
................ |
When the people of this land want wind, when they want water, when they want wisdom, when they want all their worries to melt away and flowers to bloom in the unfrozen earth, there are other gods that they pray to. When they want blood and smoke and the ravages of war, though, they pray to Sargonnas. There is no better deity. Although he claims it is impossible for him to imbue mere mortals with the intelligence he has collected over the ages, over countless centuries, he is always happy to slake bloodthirst, invoke the spirit of war. Anything to make them forget that, when pressed, he has no memories of all these years before. To be a living vein of holy fury is not an easy task, but in some ways, it is a simple one. All anyone ever expects of him is anger, and anger he can deliver in spades, lethal claws and stormy temper. But in the hours in which he has no calling, no battles to be fought, no blood to be drawn, he finds that he is more complex than his role might often afford. His lack of memory haunts him. And in truth he has a softness, a smile that is more sweet than sharp, an inability to find the words for any kind of apology but an unspoken dedication to the clan that comes under his watchful, ruby red eye. Some nights he dreams that they pray to him for kindness, for affection, and he finds that this, too, he can deliver in spades. What is a god to do? | .................... |

the sun rises blood-red and stains the sea
with metallic copper on the roof of your mouth,
sharp as a tack and a spade, wildcard perfectly
placed. the blood of the covenant spills over
the rim of the cup and stains your fingers,
your teeth, your skin. when you smile, all that
they see are your fangs in front of the kindness.
there’s a black hole in the back of your brain
where a galaxy used to live. the emptiness
does not bother you often, though; you have
the passion and spark to birth new stars.

Blind fury, righteous anger. He lives and fights and dies in the spirit of every warrior that falls on the battlefield; they whisper his name as they breathe their last and scream it, too, as they make one final charge, invoking a god who listens and gives freely. Innocents die in war, as do blood-soaked saints and corrupt priests. Even as he stands, holy and untouchable, well above the writhing, suffering masses, and wonders why his own heart must betray him so, the truth of it is undeniable: even the gods have rules they must obey, and after all, why fight and bleed and die for a cause you do not love?
