Arsenic
Dedicated || Self Conscious || Responsible "Mistakes can lead to opportunity." Theme Song Arsenic was always curious as a hatchling; poking her nose into places where it didn't always belong. Her parents always warned her that it would get her into trouble one day but being so young, she never really understood what consequences could come from the actions she took. Then one day she learned her lesson in a very hard manner. Arsenic had decided to wander into the den of her birth clan's alchemist. Her eyes gleamed as she discovered vials of unknown substances to check out along with many other colorful items and trinkets. With some effort she managed to haul hers pearl up onto a stone slab and was starting to climb up after it when there was a breaking sound. The pearl clattered to the ground and rolled away but was followed by liquid dripping off the edge of the flat stone. She cried out as some of it touched her, burning away at her scales, and her body fell to the ground with a muffled thump. It didn't take the alchemist to find her but by the time she was taken to the healer the damage had been done. Her parents scolded her for her foolishness, clearly worried and upset over the accident, while the healer worked day and night to bring down the pain and stop the poison from eating away at her scales. That was when they'd officially given her the name Arsenic. The poison left its marks however and she began wearing a birdskull mask in an attempt to hide the worst of the damage on her face. It wasn't all bad despite the hard, bloody looking patches all over her body. Arsenic managed to get better and with the healer's help even developed a knack for the skill of healing other dragons. She hadn't planned on becoming a healer but the path seemed to call to her now more than ever after experiencing what it was like to be saved by one. With the help of the alchemist as well, Arsenic was able to become more focused on the healing magic and remedies for poisons and toxins done to dragons. By the time she left her birth clan and arrived at the Clan of Death; Arsenic had learned all her birth clan had to teach her. Of course, nothing would ever repair the damage to her scales but the daily reminder had turned her into a more responsible and organized dragon, though she was still too self conscious about her scars to remove her mask. Even her mate, Alken, found it hard to convince her to at first. The clan doesn't mind her choice, as her skills are far from hindered by the birdskull mask; even if some of the bolder hatchlings tend to get too curious about it at times. Foolish young hatchling, nosing about. She learned her lesson, acid ate away at her snout. Her name reflected her stupidity when young. Saved by the healer, to life she barely clung. Inspired now to heal others too, She was skilled, doing things few others could do. Leaving her clan to start a new life, There she suffered little strife. Still self-conscious about her scars, If your life is better, you should thank your lucky stars. poem by @Nightdraco |
