Biography

TSAAGAN BAGATUR
The Battler from Bygone Days

Tsaagan is a loud and passionate dragon, especially when it comes to fighting. Not killing, mind, that's something she'd rather avoid, just pure, simple brawling. It was her way of life thousands of years ago, and when a necromantic ritual gone terribly right revitalized far more ancient Cairnstone wyrms than intended (likely boosted by the surging power of the elements), Tsaagan happily threw herself straight back into the fray.

Much of her first life was spent scrapping in the dusty arena she was raised in, fighting as a gladiator for the entertainment of the roaring crowds. In between bouts she toiled away at the training grounds, or scavenged for food and detritus under the youthful sun's burning rays to make a little extra money, when she wasn't stuck languishing in the care of a physician. Hers was a rough and violent life, but by a stroke of fortune not as brutal as most gladiators'. Once, the arena she'd been left at as a foundling was run by callous dragons who catered to an audience that reveled in barbaric bloodsports, but in Tsaagan's youth it was claimed by another clan in a territorial war. The new managers balked at the savagery that had run rampant, and decreed that if the arena was to remain open, it had to do so under strict new rules and take much better care of its fighters (or rather, take care of them in the first place).

She died as she'd lived, putting her heart and strength into battle, when she signed on as a soldier for her new clan to defend it against the crueler dragons who'd once dictated hers and the other gladiators' lives. To honor her bravery and devotion, her clanmates and admirers entombed her in the catacombs of the Cairnstone Rest, and there she remained as the world turned and the ages marched on, until by chance she was filled with fresh life.

Tsaagan quickly set off to see what had become of the place she'd once called home. She crossed the Shattered Plains alone on her journey to the Earthswound, or as it is now known, Greatwyrm's Breach. She got into a bit of a scrap with Hallowed of the Demesne's Day Watch after a misunderstanding at the diabase border, but a friendly fistfight is practically Tsaagan's way of saying hello, and they soon got things sorted out. Hallowed lead her to the clan's lair, and once Tsaagan decided that the Demesne's way of doing things was close enough to her old clan's, she quickly settled in.

Her enthusiasm for scrapping- and her loyalty to a clan she can get behind- are so great that she's volunteered to be a reserve member of the Day Watch, the Night Watch, and the Lair Guard. If any dragon from these groups is injured, ill, or just feels like taking a day or two off, Tsaagan eagerly jumps in to fill the gap. Even on days when no-one's absent she tends to join in anyway with no prompting.

The Wildclaw just doesn't do things by halves; it's all or nothing with Tsaagan no matter what she's doing. She likes doing things just for the sake of the challenge and the thrill of overcoming the obstacles involved, even when cooler heads would caution against it. Unless it's her current commanding officer doing it (and sometimes, even then), telling her no is more likely to make her start something immediately than giving her permission.

Her boisterous, gung-ho nature and great skill in combat got her the attention of Plouton, the clan tactician; after giving her a crash-course in tactics, he essentially made her the clan drill sergeant. Now, once a month or so Tsaagan brings the clan's reserve fighting force of warriors and mages together, and (very loudly) puts them through their paces. It's a duty she handles with no small amount of pride and gusto as she belts out orders and trains her clanmates as she sees fit, according to her warrior ethos.
