"Someday you will die and somehow something's gonna steal your carbon. Someday, somehow, or something will die and you will steal its carbon." Bartimaeous is one of the few dragons whom Nocturne has given permission to roam freely, traveling as he will to find suitable test subjects for his petty acts of necromancy. He can be gone for weeks at a time, but every time he returns he brings more than what he left with. As he took his wanderings closer and closer to the Wyrmwood, so it was that he stumbled upon Queezle in the midst of her necromantic trials. She bid him to leave her be, but he was curious about the ordeal, and so blatantly spied upon her as she completed her ritual. He bore witness to her struggles and eventual success, amazed and jealous of the powers the Plaguebringer deemed fit to bestow upon her. The mirror was powerful; much stronger in the mgaicks that he claimed to be so adept at. Envious of her gifts, he confronted her. Without thought she infected him, causing a Smirch to spread across his body until he wheezed for mercy. Vicious in nature, she didn't want to at first, but something compelled her to recall the virus, leaving behind faint, physical scars of where it had traveled. Though Queezle was not beautiful to behold- ransacked and scarred by the diseases she had to suffer through to earn her title of Necromancer- Bartimaeous knew Nocturne would want her powers for himself. It took a great deal of compromise to get her to venture back to Nocturne's lair with him, but his recruitment of Queezle to the clan is, debateably, his greatest success as of yet. |
