He was born under a moonless night. He could feel power run through his veins and the glowing light of his claws. He seemed to stare at them for awhile before getting up and walking around. Everywhere he stepped, a soft blue glow would emit from his footprints. Everything he touched seemed to surge with vitality afterwards. He could see the plants straighten their stems, the water puddles clear up, the small insects instantly healthier. He looked down near his claws and saw strength...and maybe life. He looked at the sky and gently walked forward.

He had walked into the Tangled Wood after days of padding along a nearby river. He had been guided there by gentle winds carrying happiness and safety. He soon wondered into the Night Flowers Clan. He had been immensely scared at first, everybody wanted to meet and talk to the newly seen hatchling. He was immensely scared until he met his soon to be mentor Ansara. Ansara had guided him to one of the many hidden spots in the Dragwood Drift.
After calming down and playing with multiple glowing fungi, he started to become curious. He asked Ansara many questions, and she answered them one by one. Soon, he felt comfortable in this unknown territory. He soon returned to the clan and met many new dragons. Vapor, Perdita, Irabis, Varinn, Orion... he soon took another break and went to the safest place he knew: Ansara's small den. He curled up and soon began to shake with quiet sobs. He had not yet been on this realm for more than 3 days, and he already felt overwhelmed. Too many smells, too many faces, too many scents and sounds. He heard gentle clawsteps and saw Ansara looking at him. He stood to get up, but Ansara shook her head. She soon had wrapped herself around Charybdis and they fell asleep. This was the meeting of a very strong sage and an even stronger healer.

Charybdis stood around the carnage he had just done. Dragons lay at his feet, some still breathing.
"What....what have you done?" One of the dragons looked up to face him. It was his mentor...his mother, technically.
"What I had to. Don't you see, Mother? This world is filthy! The dragons in this world are filthy! The only...substantial good I have seen is from you! You took me in, raised me. Yet the other members of the clan were suspicious, hateful even. Some of the other hatchlings had even bullied me to the point where I was isolated. There is no good in this world. Maybe in some other place, some other time. Maybe I could have stayed as I was, but not here. "
His wings flapped and he shot himself into the air. His claws filling with the power he had been given since he had hatched. A peaceful smile had graced his face. His wings worked fiercely, shooting him up into the sky. He had already started the incantations, laid the magic down the metaphorical rails. All he had to do was push it over the edge. He knew the chant by heart, for what else had he been memorizing in those dusty old books Ansara gave him.
"Charybdis, no!! I can change this! We can change this, it doesn't have to be this way." Ansara had forced herself to come to his side. Her wings were flapping in alternatying cycles. He could tell she was fighting just to keep her left one moving. He felt a pang of regret, felt his claws and his teeth tearing through her gentle wings again. This angered him.
"How?! How can you change this?! Redo it all?! Just rewind it back? I do not think so...Ansara!" He spat out the word before he realized it. He could see the hurt flash across her face. He had never called her by her name since he had been used to the clan, when he had first met her.
"Charybdis..."
"No!! I will not listen! I have planned this for too long!! I have been healing since I was born! Surely I can bring something back! Surely I can bring back an Ancient Evil!!" He could see the recognition flash in her eyes.
"No! That's even worse than what you have already done! You need to stop!!" Ansara tried flying her way over to him. Charybdis had acted too quickly for her to do anything. He grabbed her fragile wing again and tore it with his sharp talons. He pulled his claws away before they could start healing the wound. Before she fell, he grabbed her with his back talons and carried her that way. He flew with her in his grasp, not realizing the spell she was already muttering. He had flown into the Light territory. He could feel an Emporer's soul far down, this was going to be easier than he thought. He let go of Ansara and turned to her, smiling that childish smile of his.
"Do you not see what I am doing? Can you not see this is better??" He turned his back to her and bowed close to the ground. Before he could do anything else, Ansara laid her claws gently on his wing.
"No, I cannot. But maybe I will, evantually." She stepped back and sat down. Charybdis, thinking he was victorious, felt as if he had finally won. He had finally done it. Until he felt a tingle in his wing. He looked and realized it was shrinking.
"What!! Mother! What have you done!!" Even as his mind was filling itself with fog, he could tell something was wrong. He felt like his power was draining. His voice didn't sound as deep anymore.
"What I should have done long ago. I am sorry Charybdis, but you've left me no choice. Sornieth does not need more villains, neither does it need more heroes. It just needs normal dragons to live together, happily." She stepped closer to him, and he realized he was shrinking faster than before. His mind felt really sluggish. Lizards? Skinks? Fireflies? Where were these memories coming from?
"Mom? Why? why? wh..." Before long, his brain couldn't formulate the words he wanted to say. Ansara had reversed time on him. He was exactly the age of when he first met her, only hours after his hatching. He couldn't remember why he was here? Why was it so bright? Wasn't the Tangled Wood dark? Where was he?
"Mom? Mom!" He bounded closer to the only thing he knew. Mom could fix everything. She could figure out where he was! She probably had those snacks he liked too!
"Come on Charybdis, let us go back home." Ansara started padding away, then looked back to watch him run towards her.
"Ok! Let's gooo!" He couldn't wait to tell the other hatchlings that he, Charybdis, had been on such a cool adventure!!

Charybdis returned to the clan and watched Ansara reverse the time on the destroyed ecosystem and healed her fellow clanmates. The other clanmates were extrememly apprehensive about bringing Charybdis back into the clan. Ansara had to argue and find a solution to both problems. She told the clan that she would take a trip to Baldwin every week to get a potion that would block Charybdis' past memories. The clan agreed to this and allowed Charybdis to stay. And so it went, Ansara would take Charybdis every week to Baldwin to drink his potion.
"It tastes like...like..like those little lizards! It tickles too!", Charybdis loved describing the potions to his clanmates. It made him feel special. But once in a while...Ansara would forget. Charybdis sometimes wouldn't take his potion for weeks...and it made him remember. Light territory? So much anger! On these days, he picked lots of fights with the other hatchlings and even the adult dragons. This reminded the clan how important his potions were. And sometimes...when he drank it after not taking it for a while, he would never tell Ansara this...but sometimes he heard the voices of other hatchlings.
"Why did you abandon us? Were we not good enough? Did you not like us? Come back....
