Journal entries

Day 1: As I leave home I am so excited to start this grand journey. Mom said I couldn't leave till I was an adult, and it's finally come true! I hugged my home clan family, packed a few snacks for the road, and am ready to head off!

Day 6: I've arrived at the Sea, where I've made some new friends. The leaders of the clan have taught me a few tricks to protect myself in my travels. There's another traveler here- well, she's originally from here, but she's visiting home to hatch some eggs- and she's offering to travel with me when I want to go on. I'm thinking it over, but I think I'll take her up on it- Lunasa is very chatty, and it'll be nice to have company on the voyage.

Day 17: I'll admit, I was a little surprised when I made it to the Windswept Plateau. The clan that Lunasa and I sheltered with was a barren 16 dragons, a sharp contrast to the hustle bustle of Lunasa's home clan. Even so, they welcomed us with a massive show of spellcasting. Oh, how to describe it... It's a massive display of magical skill where all of the Wind dragons whipped the clouds into a frenzy and a Water and Light mage, named Pinthr and Aonani respectively, painted rainbows in the sky with water and light. It was gorgeous! Lunasa was similarly amazed; she also hadn't been to the Plateau either.

I can't wait to move on. Although the dragons here have been incredibly friendly, I'm so excited to see what else other clans have made in respect to display like that. It's all so very exciting!

Day 19: A curious little inn. Most dragons are friendly. They are witches and wizards with odd magic. They tried to teach me spells with no success. The food and drinks here are good, though. But I shouldn't linger for to long.

Day ???: I seem to have lost count of the days. This should be day 36, but the according to the calendar, it would only be day 2? Something has gone awry and I know not what. But the dragons here in Valhall are kind and are trying to help me find out what happened. I'm surprised they even believed me.

So far, it appears I may have hit a vortex when flying in from the Sunbeam Ruins. And now that I think back, I cannot remember flying for more than a few hours - not nearly enough to make it all the way to the bottom of the Icefields! I have gotten some provisions and supplies, but I need to move on. I have to find out what happened to me, why I have apparently gone back in time.

Day 13: For the sake of simplicity, I am following the day it should be in my calendar, though I have surely been travelling for longer that this. I have been staying in a clan with many magicians in the hopes that they could ferret out the truth of what happened to me. They all have different ideas, though, so I'll just write a couple of them down and see if any of them seem plausible as I travel onwards.

Hanson's theory: The vortex in the ruin was a channel in which I got caught, causing me to run along the lines of time until I was spat out in a time that pulled at me more strongly than this one. On day two I was experiencing a lot of stress, so I guess maybe that would be what pulled me out. I had been so eager to be off, but day 2 I doubted myself awfully.

Merrillee's theory: My calendar has been enchanted, and when I went back to check the 2nd to see what supplies I had to restock from then, it tugged my back, leaving me with a long space of time in which I could not remember what had happened.

Midnight's theory: I just need some hot chocolate and a succulent in a necklace and to stop fussing about it.

I'm not sure any of them seem likely, but I suppose it's a start.

Day 22 (?): First a time vortex, then a great storm blowing me off course... To think I'd find myself by the Wyrmwound! I haven't been in this part of Sornieth since I was a hatchling, though I'm nowhere near where I was born. Even though the land is unforgiving, the dragons aren't; I was given a warm welcome and some rather exquisite tea. It was nice to meet other Plague dragons like me, ones that aren't so savage.

Entry #8 I'm back in the Windswept Plateau!
Though this time in a large boisterous clan full of all type and kinds of Dragons... I am one of the rarer Tundras, though. But I did meet a lovely angelic pair.

Two amazing instances happened!
The first came when describing my lost day and how worrying it was. The leader of the Clan ask what good did worrying do? And said why don't I just number my entries and no longer count days. I think I'll try it. Not sure it will work. But I'd like this whole thing to be over...

The second came from a Spiral. She said I was off balance. Too much of the world. Not enough of the sky. And she gave me a star. Not sure if it's really real... But she say it is.
Lagoon Starsilk Earrings

I will miss them, but they are exhausting.

Entry #9 Deciding to count my entries by number rather than date has turned out to be a wonderful idea. I'm no longer constantly checking to see if I've gone back in time again. I feel calmer.
Today, my journey has taken me to a mysterious land full of giant, glowing mushrooms. I ended up staying with a large Shadow clan among the fungi, hoping they would know something more about what happened to me. Not many of the dragons there were magic users, however. Just as I was about to leave, I was approached by a young conjurer who gave me the following advice:
"This world was created by magics we will never understand. Traces of these magics sometimes linger, to be rarely discovered by dragons who wander too far from their lairs. I believe you stumbled across one of these traces. I suggest you go about this investigation carefully, lest you tamper with forces beyond your understanding"
With those words, she pulled an old, worn clock off a shelf and cast some sort of spell on it. Right before my eyes, the clock came to life. She gifted it to me, promising it would help me find answers.

As I take flight once again, her words still ring in my head. Have I really stumbled upon ancient magic?
