Dragon Log

Like his sister Norberta, he came from a Plague Clan. He, however, prefers a bit more "wackiness" in his worlds, and has become enamored of a bunch of scrolls centered around a land called "Xanth." He fancies himself like the Demon Xanth in that tale, and is currently torn between naming himself "Xanth" directly, or taking the name of the Demon's half-dragon alter-ego, "Nimby."

7-4-14: After careful thought, and a good deal of laughs, he has made his decision: Xanth is just too serious for this dragon, and besides, he doesn't want to upset the Demon if he should ever find his way to the FR world...

9-11-14: His friend the Psywurm noticed that several other familiars had names, so asked Nimby to name him.... in keeping with the ideas of Xanth, Nimby obliged: meet Silverfish!

10-7-14: Silverfish has awakened! As exhilarating as this is for Nimby, it does not seem to have made much difference for Silverfish: he is still annoyed if he doesn't have a pile of books and scrolls to sleep on at night....

10-27-14: Nimby is in a bit of hot water at the moment with the Clan Father. It seems that when he overheard Corona making a few choice comments about the terrible fate of an abandoned Plague hatchling, he challenged her to a bet regarding the sun’s lifespan, and when he won, he dragged her to a Riot of Rot party at a Plague Clan! Oh boy….Moondust is NOT amused…. ()

10-28-14: Despite his chewing out from Moondust, Nimby is feeling quite pleased with himself, now that he can see again. He has proved that he still has “it”—whatever that may be—he got a nice chance to see his old stomping grounds…and best of all, Corona doesn’t seem quite as inclined to insult Plague anymore. All in all, he can count this one as a win—as long as he avoids the Clan Father for the foreseeable future….

11-24-14: During the Rockbreaker's Ceremony, Nimby stumbled upon an odd surge of energy... and now he is wearing the "Stoneswept Arabesque" Accent. He is not unhappy at the change, as it makes him look more like a being who was in rock for a long time--just like the demon Xanth, before he took the name Nimby.

12-20-14: After a long, fruitful relationship, Silverfish has decided he wants to check out the rest of the cave system. Nimby wishes him well, and hopes that he will return soon. In the meantime, a Nochnyr wandered into the Clan, and the "demon" dragon was instantly intrigued... after all, not all denizens of the underworld are pretty....

2-27-15: This year for the Trickmurk Circus, the Clan has "accidentally" found themselves involved in a Prank War with their friends from Teeka's Clan. Earlier in the week Nimby had assisted in a Clanwide effort to catch some very elusive Microdeer, and happily assisted with sending a retaliatory prank back. (, , ) Now, however, it seems that he has been hit by a prank himself, although he may not realize it: A prank involving a pen that shows the innermost thoughts of the writer. Nimby Is extremely pleased with his new “Think Ink”… (, )

3-20-15: The Nochnyr has Awakened! Nimbly isn't sure whether to be happy about this or not, but the Nochnyr seems pleased...

9-2-15: While out wandering one day, Nimby found an unusual creature, one that reminded him somewhat of something he had once read, and he attempted to coax him home. It did not take that much coaxing, as the Crimson Emperor was just as intrigued by the playful Ridgeback as Nimby was by him....

11-3-15: Nimby appears to be late from his journey back from the Riot of Rot, and Duskshadow is growing extremely worried. Its not like him to take so long...unless, of course, he found a new scroll to study. In this case, however, he has found something else of interest: An intriguing “spooky” raffle…

12-7-15: The Crimson Emperor has Awakened! He seems very amused by Nimby's insistence on calling him a "Nightmare"--though he absolutely refuses to be called Trojan....

2-25-16: Nimby has found his Nightmare at last! Reactions among his other companions are mixed, as the Crimson Emperor is happy for his friend, while the Nochnyr appears to be extremely displeased.... so much so, that he has retreated to the Vault to sulk! Oddly, Silverfish, the Psywurm, does not appear to care about the new addition one way or another...

5-28-16: Mare Imbrium, the Nightmare, has Awakened! Nimby is extremely pleased for his friend, and even more so that she seems to like to read the same set of scrolls he does. Perhaps she can help him find another Xanthian companion--or at least coax the Nochnyr out of the Vault....

2-23-17: Nimby is no stranger to unusual surges of energy, or their effects upon himself. This is good, since he has now encountered another one: While exploring the forest during the Trickmurk Circus he had an unusual experience... and now, with an imprint of the Whimsical Night upon his wings, he looks even more like the Dimensional Demon Xanth then he did before! (Or at least, that's what he's been telling himself....)

9-5-17: A rather startling situation has developed for Nimby and his familiar "family." He had intended to bond only with creatures that reminded him of his favorite set of scrolls, but it seems that the creatures themselves may have other ideas. Today, while grooming his Nightmare, Mare Imbrium, this dragon was startled by the sudden arrival of an Apatite Fisher. The blue crane butted Nimby insistently with his head, until the Ridgeback looked over in exasperation...and was caught at once by those odd, sparking eyes. Before Nimby knew what was happening, a familiar bond had snapped into place! What on earth is he going to do with a crystalline blue bird? Hmmm...maybe he can figure out a pun for its name? There must be some reason the bird was so eager to bond....

12-11-17: Despite Nimby's concerns that they were incompatible, the familiar bond--and the familiar that initiated it--were not to be denied. Now the bond has come to its full completion, and the still unnamed Apatite Fisher has Awakened! At least now Nimby knows why the strange bird was so attracted to him: The pun is, in fact, in its species name--a bird made out of apatite with an insatiable appetite for gem-like fish. Hmmm...Now, there's an idea...he will have to see if his friend likes the name Gem....but first they will celebrate the fact that the very happy bird has become fully mature at last--or at least they will as soon as Nimby can pull him away from those tasty fish....

4-6-20: Lately, a number of the "Vault Familiars" have been re-emerging from the Vault, and rejoining their dragons. No one is sure why this phenomenon is occurring, but Nimby is not at all unhappy to see his old friend the Nochnyr again....
