- Raised by a small group of Tundras who found him as a few days old hatchling in the Southern icefield. He was half hidden under the lifeless body of his mother, luckily one of the Tundras spotted him before he could freeze to death.

- Caleb is born a Fae but was breed changed in a Tundra by his adoptive clan so he had better chances of surviving in the harsh and cold landscape. He has no memories of being a Fae. He only slightly remembers his mother’s scent and her eyes.

- He had a normal and happy childhood with his clan, life in the frozen landscape was harsh but also helped him grow up strong with an amazing sense for survival.

It was only when he reached adulthood he learned the truth about his past and what happened with his mother. the Tundra female that raised him as her own son finally told him what happened, considering he was mature enough now. Caleb was sad but understood his adoptive mothers choice of not telling this sooner, not blaming his clan for anything. He was also gifted a journal and an amulet that belonged to his real mother.

The Journal revealed that his mother was named Inkheart and she had left her old clan. She found out she was expecting hatchlings, too afraid to tell the father. She hatched the eggs in secret but Calebs father had found out about the hatchlings and Inkheart had fled the clan with the newborn dragons. Sadly his two siblings had passed away, the journey was too much for the frail Faes. He was the only one left after his mother didn’t survive a blizzard in the Southern Icefield. Calebs adoptive mother told him she had probably tried protecting him with her own body and that was the reason he survived.

This new information left him bitter and he was determined to find his father so he could get more answers and more importantly, get revenge. The journal only had a few clues about his mother’s old clan, that it was a Shadow clan and that his father was a Pearlcatcher.

Calebs best friends decided to join him in his search. Lycidas, a strong mage and Farkas, a talented archer. The three Tundra’s left the clan the same day. As a way to earn money and acquire information they started to accept different jobs, mostly mercenary work. Turned out they were really good at that and soon got asked for shadier work like assassination. Calebs friends had doubts in the beginning but Caleb accepted the jobs right away. The three hid their faces with wolf capes and quickly earned the nickname ‘The Night howlers’. Having contact with spies and other shady dragons gave Caleb more options to learn information about his mother's clan but still not enough to give him a strong lead.

Until after a couple years, when Caleb was almost close to giving up his group got offered a new job. It was all in secret and they could tell nobody about this. They were used to clients not wanting to be involved much but this was different, they only got a quickly scribbled note with a time and place and how much it would pay. It felt almost like a trap and Caleb would mostly have declined if it wasn’t for the whereabouts of the job, The tangled wood. That night they met with a cloaked stranger in a bar, they sat in silence for a while until the stranger said ‘I know what you are looking for.’ Caleb had laughed a bit, not exactly sure what the weird dragon meant. ‘Your father is the one I want dead’ he had said bluntly. Caleb had spit out his drink and stared at the dragon in front of him. With this creepy wide grin on his face and eyes hidden under his black hood. The stranger had stood up and only said ‘follow me’. Caleb had sat there for a few seconds, staring at his friends . It was Farkas who nodded at him in an encouraging way and the three Tundras followed the strange dragon in the night.

The group had silently walked in the dark forest of the Shadow territory and Caleb expected bandits to jump out of the shrubbery any moment to slit his throat. Until suddenly a dark castle appeared in front of him. Caleb was baffled, how could he only see the enormous building now they stood in front of it. They were in the forest for hours and he hadn’t even seen a glimpse of a tower or not even the bright lights that shone from behind the stained glass windows. The stranger had ignored the confused looks of the Tundra’s and continued walking until they reached a gate that slowly opened. Caleb had expected dragons behind it but there was nobody. It was like the heavy gate had opened on all its own, magic he thought. Caleb wasn’t someone who got scared easily but even he was feeling anxious about the situation. Caleb thought they would enter the castle through the massive oak doors but the dragon that been leading them all this time took a different path that seemed to lead to the forest again. They quickly reached an open space between the trees and Caleb could see the silhouette of another dragon. ‘who’s that’ he whispered but the dragon that offered them the assassination contract had disappeared. The silhouette seemed to walk towards them and Caleb felt like he was stuck to the forest floor and his heart pounded in his chest. The dragon stepped in the moonlight and appeared to be a Pearlcatcher and stared at the Tundra’s with piercing purple eyes filled with anger. Those eyes.. The only thing that Calebs mother ever had mentioned about his father in her journal were his eyes, how they scared her. But the worst thing was that it was like Caleb was staring in a mirror his own eyes were exactly the same. ‘well?’ the Pearlcatcher had asked in a demanding tone. Caleb got the feeling in his legs back and turned around, running away as fast as he could. His comrades looked at each other astonished but decided to follow their friend.

Caleb had run at full speed until he collapsed somewhere in the middle of the forest. It took a few minutes for his friends to reach him, also panting heavily. They stared at him in utter confusion. Caleb turned around and looked and them ‘and what do we now’ he asked…
