Not all under Gullveid's grasp perish in despair. Though Sigurd's fiery passion was nearly extinguished by his sister's will, they kept each other in check, Sigurd's cool, calculated demeanor a balance to Gullveid's otherwise ruthless behavior, while Gullveid drove Sigurd to be a force to be contended with.

And he hated every minute of it.

He was taught to obey, to follow orders, to succeed where anyone else would fail. He was Gullveid's pet, her prized little brother, and any toe out of line would result in punishment. After all, only the best would suffice from her own bloodline.

When he met Rose, he found his voice. Falling into an extreme passion with one of the most flighty and impulsive beings he could have ever imagined was an emotional roller coaster for both of them, but together they emerged stronger from the wreckage of their sleepless nights than either could have dreamed.

Forced to face the terror of his situation when the object of his affection came under his sister's hostility, Sigurd found the motivation he needed to think and act for himself. The once unchallenged Usurper of the Carrion Cartel faced with the betrayal of her own kin, she did not take lightly to Sigurd's disobedience and sought to demolish every shred of Rose's perceived deception posed to take her brother from her.

What she didn't expect was their love to be genuine.
