Emerald spends most of her time guarding and preparing the Nesting Grounds. Despite her size, it's as if she has the intellect and ferocity of a fully grown Nocturne bottled up inside her.
She was handpicked by Rosekeep as a Nest Guard to defend the nests from scavengers and keep watch whilst absent minded parents wander off.

The Nesting Grounds of Adavar lie on the surface, surrounded by a thick wall of brambles —though not impenetrable—. Once they break free from the shell of their eggs, Adavar hatchlings spend little time under the murky fog-obscured daylight before they are plunged into the darkness of the caves.
Shadow Domain is no place for an unwary hatchling.

The denkeeper inspects all hatchlings entering the tunnels for anomalies and gives them their own unique number as they are entered into the Sorneith Black Book. Their birth is recorded so that they are never forgotten, and then they decend the slope downwards into the darkness.

It is the denkeepers decision whether a hatchling stays in the caves or is cast out into the light to either make the journey to the Forum Marketplace where they are sold to another keeper, or if they grow strong and battle in the training grounds to make the honour of serving the mighty Shadowbinder in the fight for ever encompassing darkness.
