Most find Halina frightening, terrifying. Blinded and ever-hungry, she is set to guard the clan's food stores but is not herself allowed to eat anything kept there. Rumors abound that she devours trespassers and thieves instead of the contents of the storehouse.

The storehouse is located in the tunnels which form the main road between the Scarwind Keep and Clifftown, although there are smaller local food stores in both the Keep and Clifftown, the former being an emergency stockpile in case of siege, and the latter being more of a distribution center. The main storehouse is a series of chambers which are protected by Halina alone. No other guardians are deemed necessary. Halina does not prowl or haunt the place, however, but she remains stationed at the entrance, stoic and unmoving until she detects that something is amiss.

She has an uncanny ability to sense disturbances within her domain. Some of the more clever and mystically inclined of the clan have the idea that she is not sustained by trespassers or would-be thieves, nor that it is Iggy who controls her. Instead, they suspect, she has become an extension of the storehouse itself, and that her hunger reflects the need to fill those guarded chambers with sustenance for the clan.

It is the storehouse itself which is hungry.

When Halina was still a hatchling, the demon Michalis found her and, for reasons she can not know, raised her with the intent of inflicting a terrible curse upon her. He called upon an Ice Spiral, Simon, who had a debt to him, to help complete his work...

She hates Michalis, but also views him as her father.
