Kraken's life, like many others, did not start of decently. She was born on the Eastern edge of the Southern Icefields, a cold and mostly desolate place where you either hardened into a survivor or you died in the attempt.

Barely more than a hatchling, this young, budding strategist met her match when a storm practically wiped out her clan. Arising from the wreckage as much fewer than before, harpies and wolves saw the chance and took it, they picked at the injured clan one by one, separating them all until Kraken could find none of her brethren. So she flew, refusing to stop as if the enemies were still hard at her wingtips. In her haste, she miscalculated the distance she had flown, and fell in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. The shock and the notice of how badly wounded she was caused her to pass out.

She was lucky she ever woke up again at that point. But she had been found by a young Druid who nursed her back to health, before promptly fainting of exhaustion when Kraken finally woke up!

And so the tables turned and Kraken used her broad expanse of survival knowledge to prepare a den where the young Pearlcatcher would have the chance to rest in safety, for who knows what dangers could still lurk, even this far from her old home?

While waiting for the Druid to awake, Kraken planned and studied the ancient scrolls she had managed to protect during her plight, for battered old scroll cases were nothing if not sturdy. She studied the sky and pinpointed her location, searched for the safest cliff-side den, and used her limited knowledge of Ice magic to break at the cave walls, creating a desk of sorts for her use. It was surprising the Pearlcatcher did not awake with the noise, how exhausted she must be.

Eventually she did, and Kraken thanked her again before running her mouth and exclaiming what she thought they should do- all the while kicking herself for most likely scaring the only Arach willing to help her in her time of need.

Luckily, in Kraken's mind, the Pearlcatcher, Lyn, chose to go with the plan, to create an Alliance of Outcasts, the Avatir Arach- where those who were unwanted or wandering could find a home, a new place to find family.

_BEGINNING_

____Life wasn't always fun and games for Kraken. Born on the eastern edge of the Southern Icefields- she had to learn quickly how to survive, or risk death to one of the many perils lurking on the icescape. Wolves were one thing- storms and famine another. She was not the best hunter, but she was an excellent swimmer, and an even better budding Strategist. Her brother was her only true companion- as families tended not to get close to one another- less the other met their death unfortunately.

____Kraken knew that her time was numbered on the Icefields- she just thought that it would have been longer than what it ended up being. Only days after growing out of her hatchling down- a large storm crashed upon the clan and many were separated. It was in the storm that she lost her brother Lharilstar- with no knowing of whether he would survive or not. So she did the only thing she could, she stayed with the others until they were picked off, one by one, and then flew north as hard as she could. It ended well- even if the beginning was as turbulent as the beast that gave her her name.

_HEIRESS_

____Meeting Yutori was a blessing from the Gods, in Kraken's mind. The little hatchling, at the time, looked so much like her that her maternal instincts went wild. Here was another abandoned hatchling with a playful personality, one who would not survive alone in the world for she was too pure, too innocent. No, Kraken could not simply walk away from the child, and so in a moment of instinct- she grasped the hatchling close in her clawed hands and crooned to the little Arach, her heart beating pleasantly when the young one drew closer, for more than just warmth as it crooned back. "Yutori, Siva'Yutori" Kraken pronounced proudly as she held her adopted hatchling close.

____The little hatchling did not remain that way for long. Eventually she grew into a beautiful young Arach her muted colors shimmering in the sunlight as she would dance in the waves. She was proving to be a fine dancer- graceful and passionate, and yet still so pure of mind and heart. Kraken had no doubt in her mind that the child she had chosen would grow into a fine mother herself one day. She had chosen well in choosing to name Tori as her heir, even though she planned on remaining around to have many more hatchlings to look after. Her little heiress was all grown up- and thankfully took after her mother when it came to compassion.
