B I O G R A P H Y

PumpkinCat was raised in Wind Flight when she drifted in on the breezes less than a day after hatching. Pemma was shocked to find a hatchling flying under their own power so far from their homelands. She searched for the hatchling's nest, but even EarthSea, their fastest flier, had no luck. They reared this hatchling, like so many others as their own. EarthSea, not much older than PumpkinCat herself, took a special interest in the hatchling as her flying skills were already apparent. She made sure to take PumpkinCat with her flying daily. As the hatchling grew stronger she soon out-sized the Skydancer. She was a reckless flier taking sharp banks and diving at break-neck speed. More than once EarthSea was sure she was going to need to report that the youngster had died in her care, but PumpkinCat always managed to pull up or swerve out of danger at the last moment.
In time, EarthSea became more comfortable with her sister's erratic and unpredictable flight and the two found great joy in each other's company. They oversee dragons on their first visits to the Twisting Crescendo and are there to catch them or level them out if they lose control. The two have made a nearly unstoppable team of fliers and the duo take every chance to show of their speed and daring in shows and races across the land. In spite of her great size and seeming irreverence for her own life, she is extremely aware of where she is in the sky and takes care to never clip another dragon. She has never been a fighter and only trains for competition. During battles she and her sister spend most of their time using their speed and skill to get injured dragons back to their nests to receive care while avoiding attack themselves.
PumpkinCat has confidence bordering on arrogance when it comes to her skills in the air, but there are very few dragons in the land that can out perform her or even challenge her. As such, her ego is somewhat justified, and she is not prone to bragging. She is a thrill seeker and has taken to doing shows blindfolded with only her sister's voice and her own senses to guide her. She thrives on challenge, but hates the idea of ever hurting anyone. This has given her a deep but conflicting friendship with TomatoTummy, a nocturne with a drive to succeed and a disposition that only the strong survive in battle. TomatoTummy often flies interference for PumpkinCat and EarthSea and can't understand why the two never use their skill to defend themselves.
Her greatest regret is that she was unable to resist when The Shade infected her clan. Her size and skill in the air made her a dangerous and deadly foe that was difficult to bring to heel. Apart from the obvious challenge of keeping up with her her friends in other lairs had to avoid her whipping tail, sharp fangs, and ravaging claws. It took considerable skill, and no small number of mages to bind her so that she could be brought to safety. She has not shown many outward signs of distress at the ordeal, but EarthSea and her clan mates know better from her quieter demeanor and increased time away from the lair. She is working alongside the many dragons striving to undo some of the damage of the battle within the flight and make amends for those that were injured or killed by her and her clan.
