  When children born of Ius and Os hatch from their shells, they seem, to all outward appearances, like weak and frail hatchlings not long for life. They all die on the third day of their birth, are buried and subsequently crawl from their graves two days later, looking very little like the tiny, sick half-corpses that were lowered in.

There is no mourning, no solemn ceremony. If the Plaguebringer sees fit to grant them life, they will return stronger than before.

Of course, not all hatchlings emerge from the dirt.

  This one has war in her bones.

It is evident from the very beginning. When the nest hatches, fragile and weak, of all her siblings she is the strongest, the last to heave her last breath before she is lowered into her small grave. Her yearning to survive is admirable, more so her bloodlust when she finally emerges.

A powerful guardian and formidable warrior, Vesanus is merciless to her opponents and generous to her kin. She fights as viciously as she loves, for one so strong she certainly has a lot to lose.

She will face a greater sacrifice one day. It is only a matter of time.
