Tharja has never known peace in her life. She was born into a clan lead by a mad man. She had been trained since she was young to be a ruthless killer. Trial after trial had been thrown at her, each more awful than the last. When she was but a hatching, she was afraid, unwilling to go, and begged her parents not to make her go. While her mother had been understanding, her father had always forced her and her siblings to go. As she got older, she found herself enjoying the pain. Reveling in her own strength. She liked the taste of blood.

When she came of age, she was put to a test. Three trials, after which she would become a full fledged necromancer, a mage in high standing in her clan. She was excited, ready to prove herself and become as powerful as she knew she was capable of. However, her excitement slowly waned as she went through the first two tests. It pushed her body to limits she didn't know it was capable of. She felt pain, and anger, at her leader for this. She wanted death. By the end of the second trial she was weak, but held on.

Soon came time for the final trial. Tharja was weak, and wanted revenge. However, before she had a chance to her clan had been attacked by a nearby rival clan. Her mother had grabbed her and her siblings and led them out of the fight, begging them to leave and never look back. They all took flight and left in separate directions. She hadn't wanted to. She wanted to see the life drain from her clan leaders eyes. But her mother had insisted, and she didn't wish to disobey the one person in her life she still had left. So she had left, flying over the lands until coming to rest in a village.

She knew she couldn't enter the village, no one would allow it. She rested outside the town, keeping watch on the dragons from afar. She realized that even without going through the final trial, she still had all the powers of a necromancer, even if she wasn't one in name. She stayed outside the village, making her own nest where no one would bother her. She became cold, angry, in her isolation, still yearning for revenge. She plotted for months, planning on how exact revenge. Practicing with her powers over death. However, plans eventually changed.

There was a family of Coatls in the village, that were held in high respect. Occasionally, the three siblings would wander into the woods to hang out. They would talk and laugh, unaware of the necromancer's presence. Or perhaps they did know, but didn't care. Regardless, they left her alone. Tharja hated them at first, always interrupting her training. And yet, she couldn't bring herself to chase them off. She didn't feel so alone when they were there. Before long, she found herself falling for the eldest. His smile, his laugh. She wished she could come out and meet him. Eventually he stopping coming with the other two, and she devised a plan to see him again.

Under the cover of moonlight, the dragon had cloaked herself and headed into the village. It had been quiet, no one out, but she knew the Coatl had still been in his shop working late. When she reached the shop however, the door had been left open. And there she saw him, collapsed on the ground, not moving. She grabbed him and carried him into the woods. He was dead, killed with a poison of some kind. Tharja cried, she didn't want to be alone again. She knew she only had powers over death, but she was also supposed to have powers over life too. She had just never tried before now. She gritted her teeth and got to work.

After a long night, Tharja stepped back. The coatl was breathing again, slowly but surely. He would never be the same again, his flesh gone from his body. But he was still alive. Her heart fluttered, a happiness she had only come to know in her life recently. But she knew, she couldn't let him see her. He would hate her and what she was. So she left, never to be seen again. Dragons will come to the caravan sometimes with rumors of a shadow of an Imperial that passes over the lands from time to time. But no one has ever been able to spot her.
