 Professor •  Shade Specialist •  Conspiracy Theorist
History Zircon was one of the first professors hired at SPRI. His dissertations on known aberrations across Sorienth and their potential relation to the Shade caught Dispel and Eibon's interest, who hired him on the spot. His new job couldn't have come sooner, because Zircon was starting to become known as that "kooky conspiracy theorist" among his fellow academics, and his previous job as a professor in the Starfall Isles was in jeopardy. When he was taken on by SPRI, he packed up his bags and swiftly moved to headquarters, even taking up one of the unoccupied rooms on the top floor of the mansion as his permanent dorm. Besides Dispel and Eibon, he is the only dragon to live full-time at SPRI. Employment Zircon has an odd relationship with his job as a professor. On the one hand, The Shade is one of the few things in life that fascinates him to the point of it being unhealthy. One the other hand, he is absolutely terrified of the concept that one day his research might actually cause him to come into contact with it. He likes his horror stories from a safe distance. In fact, although he is a Shade researcher, he tends to let Iomedae and Sarenrae do the actual field work, even if it's related to his department. Zircon stays primarily within the Institute's walls and teaches the largest volume of classes and seminars out of his co-workers in order to keep himself busy. He doesn't really have much in the way of a social life, and any off time is spent buried in books or writing up a new thesis on Shade related theories. Zircon's focus was (and still is) are the following: 1. The origins and abilities of the entity known as The Shade 2. Classification of all known dragon abilities (standard or subspecies) and determining if their origin is natural (from the known Deities of Sorienth) or unidentifiable 3. Determine the origin of any unidentifiable dragon abilities He also has a pet project with Emperor research. He currently has a running theory that the creation of Emperors (and necromancy as a whole) may be related to the Shade. He'd love to meet an Emperor one day, but to date Dispel has never approved any field research to known Emperor sightings as it is far too dangerous to be worth the risk.
