Biography
Technician Siva'Nymsoiri "Nym" - Forest Nymph
Nym doesn’t remember much about her childhood- other than the fact that those who raised her were very… different. Her mother was a daughter of a sun god, and her father… well, he was born out of a radioactive experiment involving plants, very different.
It was an unusual pairing to be sure, made even more unusual by the fact that the pair had five hatchlings in total, all of them very different in many different ways. In Nym’s case, a forest spirit took pity on the weak child who clearly had not much time to live, and blessed her with the energy of nature, effectively passing its spirit onto Nymsoiri. The aftermath of that decision made Nym a forest nymph, one who drew energy from the land, and returned it in a similar manner. Ever breath she took became life giving, every step she took, plants grew in her wake.
Yet Nym was uncertain of how to feel, being given such a boon, and was uncertain if the path of a forest spirit was the one she wished to take. So the young dragon explored her surroundings, and met with the other members of the Alliance to which she was born, and she found her calling. Despite the powers bestowed on her and the calling of the forest that guarded the lands edge of the Alliance, Nymsoiri chose to become the clan’s technician and smith. She built her own forge, and tailored machinery to what the clan needed, such as forging Cadha’s spear or creating the storage system for the food brought back from the hunters and gatherers.
No, Nym was not happy simply being a part of the forest, when her heart was drawn to the heat and flame of a forge. To those around her, she was odd, unusually odd, for a water dragon should not be so at home surrounded by fire, and no water dragon should have been chosen as replacement for a forest spirit either.
But the once sickly child grew into her new role, even made friends with another oddity of the Alliance, a young female Coatl named Luma, and she felt at peace.
As she grew older, she found herself respected more and more by newer members of the Alliance, nay, even older ones had grown to respect her as they learned to rely on her weapons and inventions. They brought her metals and ores from their travels, gifts of inventions from other clans that they had come from, and Nym grew in ways once unimaginable to her.
She remained ever humble and ever loyal, true to her origins, but she never again felt that she did not belong.
———
Nym was one of the first to welcome the fire dragon into the water alliance, feeling a sense of kinship to the dragon who could enchant flame to do her bidding. It was an odd partnership, to be sure, but Nym could feel that Zoria simply needed to find her place in this world, just as Nym herself once had.
With the other members of the Alliance suspicious of the newcomer, for whyever would a fire dragon come to a water clan on their own volition? Lyn and Raine had both fled their circumstances, though it seemed Zoria had simply been bored of her fire home, and suspicions fell quickly on one who would leave without a need to do so.
The fire dragon, once known as Midnight, quickly grew fond of Nym, and Nym fond of her, so when the enchantress asked if she could shed her past and take on a new name, the forest nymph was quick to agree, and so Heizoria, or Zoria for short, came to be.
Nym took the older dragon under her wing, showed her around the forge and witnessed Zoria’s joy as the fire danced to her will. Nym was entranced by the showing, and wondered aloud why Zoria would come to the water clan, if her joy was to be surrounded by fire?
“Here is a challenge,” Zoria had told her, “Surrounded by water, my magic comes sluggishly, and I know that I have much to master. Surrounded by fire, as in the place I was born, I could not fathom mastery, when everything came so easily to me. I enchanted my siblings and parents, the visitors who came and went, but to them, I was simply another one with power over fire, nothing new. Yet I could feel that I was different, and so I came to the one place I would have to struggle every step of the way, a place where I, hopefully, will be proud of my difference.”
Nym was moved by the words, and so helped Zoria find her place in the Alliance, not surprised in the least when the older dragon turned towards the art of making jewelry.
The technician had tried her hands at the art before, but quickly found that jewelry making was not her strong suit. She was not one for the delicate work, the time consuming processes over tiny pieces that would simply be worn rather than have any real use, and so she was pleased with Zoria’s decision, and even allowed her time at her forge.
Time where Nym would go off and spend with her first friend, Luma, or tend to her garden that she managed minimally.
All in all, Nym felt that the fire dragon had found her place, and in doing so, peace with herself - a memory Nym knew well.
---
She was meant to be a fodder breeding but ended up as a perfect Tree Weaver... and yet she told me she needed to be a technician instead of an arborist- what a silly girl.
