When Zap enters the centre ring, the audience falls quiet with anticipation. Surrounded by darkness, a single light beam is directed at him, making his already pale features glow. Somehow, the air seems thicker than before. It feels ... charged. A second light beam flashes up, illuminating a shiny metal sphere the relative size of a bowling ball, sitting on a three-legged metal stand. With slow, measured steps, Zap approaches the sphere that suddenly lights up when he is almost close enough to touch.

The audience gasps in delight. This is one of the acts they paid their hard-earned money for to see. And they already know they're not going to be disappointed. A roar goes through the rows of spectators when Zap's fingers ~ finally ~ connect with the sphere. Lightning bolts split the air surrounding the sphere, dancing over the Electric Man's hands and arms. His hair stands on end and there's an eerie spark to his eyes that make a shiver go down every woman's, man's and child's spine in the circus tent. |

| Afterwards, Zap's clothes will be singed and they will carry a faint smell of ozone. He will treat the burns on his fingertips in silence, still feeling the electricity crackling beneath his skin. The pain is the price he has to pay for living the life he does. But sometimes he wonders if it is really worth it. If this is not only his past and his present but also his future until the day he dies. |
