Hatched in the Shifting Expanse, Lien and his parents were loners. Without a clan to tie them down in one spot, they wandered the land, rarely staying in a single place for longer than a night. As they traveled, they saw a variety of situations dragons had to live through. From a young age, Lien was exposed to the best and the worst of living situations, seeing how dragons would have to fight to have even the most basic of necessities. Because of this, Lien grew up wanting to help dragons thrive anywhere they settled. When his parents decided to leave and travel outside of the Shifting Expanse, Lien chose to stay behind, having reached an age where he could provide for himself. With a mournful goodbye, Lien and his parents went their separate ways. Although he had left his parents, he kept up with their loner ways. The idea of truly settling somewhere after a lifetime of continuous wandering felt wrong to him. He couldn't image always being around other dragons and being under watch by an authority figure all the time. |

However, despite his feelings, he did want to learn how he could be able to help other dragons. Thus, he went to a massive school that taught the power of electricity and how to use it for your own use. At this school, he learned how to create things and became skilled with his hands. As Lien always loved a good story, he often would go on whole rants about his inventions and their uses, reciting tales from his past or creating imaginary situations that might result from his inventions. After a while, he started to become dissatisfied with the school. Everything focused on technology and none of his studies ever discussed magick and potentially combining the two together. In his dorm room, he started to experiment with mixing electricity and magick. However, unfortunately, the school heads didn't like that. The practice having long been stigmatized and frowned upon, Lien ended up being kicked out of the school. Disgruntled, he took his work and left the school. Traveling throughout the Shifting Expanse alone once more, Lien focused all his attention on improving his inventions. At some point, he stumbled across a market of sorts. Dragons milled about, stalls showcasing new creations. Everywhere, dragons advertised their inventions, trying to get attention from those wandering through. Eyes filled with wonder, he glanced down at his newest creation, admittedly more magick than science. Looking back up, he spotted an empty stall. Checking his surroudings, he dashed over and set up his own little area. Unfortunately, though he tried to get other dragons' attention, no one stopped to listen or asked him about his invention. Dejected, he stopped trying and was considering packing up and just leaving. He didn't belong here. Just as he was about to take his invention and flee, a voice spoke up and asked him about his "water jug" as they called it. Thrilled that someone expressed interest, Lien jumped up and, barely registering who was asking, launched into a whole on rant about everything his invention could, even throwing in a small demonstration. The other dragon was in awe and Lien couldn't help but beam. Finally, finally after finishing his rant, Lien truly looked at the other dragon. His heart stopped. The fiery male coatl took his breath away and struck him dumb. Lien instantly knew he wanted to get to know this dragon. Thus, he introduced himself and asked for the other's name. Aden. Knowledge of the other's name only increased Lien's desire to get to know Aden more and, thus, he engaged Aden in a lengthy conversation. They wasted the whole day talking and, upon seeing the setting sun, realization sunk in that Aden would leave, causing Lien to grow sorrowful. However, out of the blue, at least for Lien, Aden invited him to join him and travel the world. Lien gladly accepted and thus the pair set out into the world. The pair of them began to travel Sorneith, Lien and Aden growing closer with each passing day and Lien falling deeper in love with the former. One day, they wandered into the Southern Icefield and winded up stranded in the midst of a massive blizzard. Cold and terrified, the huddled together and continued onward, praying to any deity that they could find shelter. At some point, they reached an odd place that sent off bad vibes. While Lien wanted to turn around, Aden pushed him onward. For a minute, the strange vibe flickered and faded. When it returned, they had entered a mysterious area protected from the raging blizzard. A whole peaceful expanse of land. Here, they ran into the Storm clan. Iceflame opened her clan's home to the pair and permitted them to stay if they so chose. |
