“Truth. Activate.”
The curt voice forced him awake. "not again…" he thought as he saw the elderly male scientist before him. “Do you hear me?” “Yes.” The scientist looked annoyed. “No, No, No, No! It’s all wrong… You’re supposed to say affirmative not yes!” The android bowed his head. “I’m sorry Sir… I’m just doing what my coding tells me…” The scientist looks mortified. “You are not supposed to say that either! You are not supposed to be sorry! You are supposed to bully the truth out of others!!” The android looks hurt. “But… I don’t want to be a bully…” “Onikaan. Drem. Ov. Zeim aus.” Those words caused the android to stiffen, he’d heard that tongue before, but he couldn’t remember where... Something about those words chilled his circuits… It sounded so menacing… “Wisdom. Peace. Trust. Through suffering. That is your calling. Not to be sorry.” The android stiffens. “Sir… I do not want to hurt people…” “Vahzen, Oblaan” The android felt his systems shutting down and tried to fight it. “Sir! No! Please! You’ can’ do this to m-“ He never finished his sentence. The scientist in a fit of rage drags the android to the room where they store the failures between scrapping runs. “Another failure! Why will they not work like they should!!” The scientist stormed out as the scrappers came to do their work. |

The android lay in the scrap heap for quite some time unaware of what had happened. One day whilst on a rescue mission for FL/GHT a small group of androids led by an imperial android took a short break near where the android lay.
“… to tell you the truth, I don’t see how we can activate the door mechanism from the outside…” The android’s sensors picked up the voice key to activate him and his systems started up. The small group were startled by the sound of movement and a pained groan from nearby, seeing the injured android there and quickly went to help him out. “Where… Where am I?” he asked. “The junkyard.” Replied the leading imperial. “What is your name?” “My… Name? I… I think… It’s… Vahzen?” The spiral looked confused. “How… how did I get here? I only remember a little bit… My name… I think… and… Onikaan, drem and ov… Something I think that scientist kept saying…” The imperial looked intrigued. “Do you know what that means?” She asked. “Umm…” the spiral racked his memory for the answer. “I think… I think it was… Wisdom… Umm… Peace?” He frowned “And trust?” She nodded slightly. “How did you end up here? What did PROJECT create you for?” “I-I… I don’t know how I got here… all I remember was the scientist shutting me down and then I woke up here… As for why they created me? I remember the scientist said that I was created to force the truth out of others… But… I told him I didn’t want to hurt others and that’s why he forced me to shut down… He told me that I was supposed to use violence to get the truth out of them…” The spiral shuddered. “I don’t want to hurt anyone…” He looks like he’s about to cry at the thought of hurting others. The imperial tilted her head. “Interesting. I suppose an introduction is in order now. My name is Ashe.” She smiled a little. The spiral managed a weak smile. “It is good to meet you Ashe.” Ashe turned to the others. “We should return home soon. We have completed the patrol but also gained a new friend.” The other androids nodded in agreement. Ashe turned back to Vahzen. “We’ll get you patched up when we go home. We’ll also get you settled in to one of our factions.” “Home? Factions?” The spiral looked quite bewildered by this statement. “Yes,” replied Ashe “We are going home to FL/GHT.” She then turned and led their party back home. |

The party arrived back at FL/GHT’s base and Vahzen was taken to the medics. While he was there an over enthusiastic bogsneak android patched him up. She hardly stopped talking.
“Hi there! Are you the newest recruit? Oh wait, what am I saying! Of course, you are! I wouldn’t be patching you up if you weren’t!” She continued to chatter away for a while before finally asking him a couple of questions. “So, these blue things. What do they do?” The spiral frowned. “Umm… I’m not a hundred percent sure… But I think they help me soothe people… I think I vaguely remember something about being created to help others tell the truth…” “Hmm…” the bogsneak looked thoughtful. “Oh! I don’t think I asked your name!” The spiral smiled nervously. “Vahzen. My name is Vahzen.” “Nice to meet you Vahzen! The name’s Spice! Though, you can call me mum if you want. I like you enough to let you do that.” At this point she continued rambling on and Vahzen eventually zoned out. Some time later his repairs are finished, and he is allowed to wander the place. As he’s wandering he crosses paths with Hawan and Hatu, the leaders of Diplomacy. “Oh, hello there. You must be the new recruit. The name’s Hawan.” “H-hi… I’m Vahzen.” The spiral is intrigued by the two he has just met. “So, have you worked out which faction you’ll join et Vahzen?” asked Hawan. “N-no… I don’t know what the factions are yet.” “Hmm…” Hawan frowned “I’m surprised no one has told you yet. Walk with us and we’ll explain them to you.” The trio continued to wander for a while while Hawan and Hatu explained the factions to him. “… and there you have it.” Said Hatu “Those are all the factions.” Vahzen looked deep in thought. “Hmm… I don’t think I’d enjoy being out in the field so much… I’m not a fighter at all… Though… I do like the sound of being in Diplomacy…” Hawan chuckled. “We’d be happy to have you in our group.” Vahzen looked surprised. “What do you mean?” “Hatu and I are the leaders of Diplomacy. Did I forget to mention that?” Vahzen tilted his head. “Perhaps… Well, I think I would like to join you in Diplomacy.” “Wonderful. Let us show you around then.” With that the trio moved on to tour the Diplomacy department and get Vahzen settled in. |
