Nobody knows where Gorah came from. Nobody knows if even Gorah himself remembers. A somber Guardian that seemingly appeared out of nowhere in the Southern Icefield, Gorah was at first, just another Guardian, as plain as plain could be. However, as the days went by, what seemed to be faint constellations silently crept onto his smooth, platinum-colored scales, and, as if breaking out of an invisible cocoon, Gorah spread his wings one morning to reveal his ghastly pale butterfly patterns. As the days passed, mysterious runes became visible on his body, perhaps telling a tale of his coming to be - but no one will ever know, as the runes were of a language long lost to civilization.
Gorah rarely engaged with the outside world, but he opened his lair to numerous hatchlings that were away from home and in need of sanctuary. They became an unruly lot, with no one to guide them as they grew, and the land soon became known to all as Kingdom Altura, Land of Chaos. Dragons came and went, some to seek new horizons, some driven away by more powerful inhabitants. Gorah provided and observed, never interfering, unchallenged despite the growing ambitions of the younger and able dragons. He nested a few times, taking little heed of his mates and the hatchlings produced. It seemed as if nothing in life mattered much to him.
That may have been true until he met Corah. A small dragon by all standards, Corah appeared in Altura one night, alone and bewildered, seeking shelter from a storm that was raging outside. Other dragons made way for her, her colors and patterns providing automatic protection as she stumbled through the Great Lair to Gorah's cave. Her oblivion, at first, was mildly annoying to Gorah, who simply ignored her as she busied herself with big and small matters of the Kingdom. Her persistence, however, wore Gorah down eventually, and he began to face the pain of the past that tormented him so. Corah's once-irritating cheeriness forced him to respond painstakingly with grunts and curt sentences, but respond he did, and he soon found himself leaving the Great Lair with Corah on what seemed to be longer and longer trips in the Kingdom. He took in the violence, devastation, and shambles that had become of this land he supposedly ruled over, until one day, he seemed to decide that enough was enough. With the aid of Shadowe and Anubis, giant Imperials that had settled in Altura long ago, Gorah formed the Knights of Dawn and the Nightwatch, and with the combined force of brave and able warriors, tyrants were expelled, Beastclan tribes chased away, and peace returned to Kingdom Altura.
Officially crowned King of Altura, Gorah announced his official betrothal to Corah, bestowing upon her the title "Queen Consort" of the Kingdom. Corah remained as busy as ever, introducing to Gorah the small delights of the world he had missed up until then. Nowadays, Gorah dutifully maintains watch over Kingdom Altura. Along with the wise counsel of Tywine the Herald and the Alturan Council, the Kingdom grows ever more prosperous and lively.
Nowadays, in his rare moments of leisure, Gorah continues to strengthen his bond with Corah; enjoys the companionship of his silent familiar, Gin; and strives (somewhat awkwardly) to mend his once-tattered relationship with Wintermoon, his daughter from his forlorn past, the only hatchling of his that still has ties to Kingdom Altura.
