Dragon Log

A proud mage with an affinity for thunderstorms, he is still considering his name.... perhaps something to do with storms? Or his powerful spirit? Ah well, he'll think of something eventually. In the meantime, he needs to go check out that energy ball in the distance... was it generated by lightning, or Runemaster blowing something up again? Perhaps both?

9-22-14: His Scaleback familiar has Awakened! This is a relief to them both, as their relationship, while close, had it's rocky moments...Scalebacks can't help being bad-tempered, after all. Perhaps now Grumpy will settle down a little? Well, he can always hope....

9-23-14: While the Scaleback goes off to sulk about the latest argument he lost, this Pearlcatcher has found a new friend... a magical Tengu. Perhaps their relationship will contain a little less drama....

12-20-14: The Tengu has Awakened! The Pearlcatcher is happy for his friend... though the Tengu does not seem to be that interested in congratulations. He's too busy playing with magical energy and trying to manipulate the elements.... has he even realized he is now fully mature?

3-9-15: The Tengu wandered away, for a while... and the Pealcatcher found something very interesting in the back of the hoard. The Jawlocker seems just as interested in him....

6-7-15: For better or for worse, Snap, the Jawlocker, has Awakened! Perhaps now he will consider letting the Pearlcatcher put something inside....

9-26-15: During the Starfall Celebration this year, a number of the Clan's male Pearlcatchers got caught in a magical storm. The result was an interesting Crystalpine Aura Accent change in their appearance. It looks better on some than others....

7-5-16: Older familiars sometimes get tired and cranky (or perhaps in this case more cranky), or just bored. Whatever the reason, both Grumpy and his "brother" Rascal have decided to move into the Vault for a while. The Pearlcatcher will miss his old friend the Scaleback, but maybe now a more congenial familiar will be more willing to bond with him--or perhaps a female dragon of the Clan will become more interested without the nasty-tempered lizard hanging around. He can always hope….

8-26-18: After so long staying at home, this Pearlcatcher has decided to go exploring at last. He may have been inspired by the lovely new Fire Magic brimming--and sparking--over in the Ashfall Waste, or perhaps he is simply a little jealous of his mother Athena's fire bottles. Whatever the reason, he has headed over to the Flameforger's Festival to try his paw at the Ember Toss Stall...

The proud Pearlcatcher strode down the tunnel, staring around him. This was not his usual haunt, by any means. He was far more used to the Starfall Isles of his birth, or the Shifting Expanse, filled with the lovely lightning storms he loved so much, which he visited every year without fail during the Lightning Festival. But his mother Athena had told him of the fun she had had last year at a certain booth at the Fire Festival, and the Pearlcatcher was intrigued by the pretty bottles filled with dancing fire stored on her shelves...

As he saw the forge come into view, the Pearlcatcher stopped in surprise. This was quite a bit larger than Athena had mentioned...and it seemed to be teeming with fire energy and...magic? Excitement sparked in his eyes. Oh, this was going to be fun....

Approaching the Guardian and Snapper dragons manning the stall, the Pearlcatcher bowed low. "Excuse me, may I try a paw at your bellows? I would like to have 10 Tosses if I may." Pulling out the embers he brought along for the trip, he set 9 of them down on the stall. After all, there was no sense in not trying as many times as allowed, if he wanted the best shot at having a nice bottle for his Trophy Shelf at the end of the day....

Fuller greeted the pearlcatcher when he finally stepped up to the stand, her smile still lingering from seeing his interest in the forge and the strange magics it emanated.

"Ten tosses it is! An' I'm glad t' see some other dragons feelin' th' magic roll of that. Little unnervin', but I think that's a good thing." She easily moved a bellows to his claws and indicated the bottles with her tail as she explained the concept. "Jus' line up yer shot, push down with some force, an' let th' bellows move th' sparks to th' bottles. Embers in th' bottle gets a light."

She stepped aside, keeping an eye on the pearlcatcher as she assisted another dragon getting set-up. She was attentive in cleaning up the one broken bottle, and in handing over his nine ignited ones. )]

And so the Pearlcatcher has 9 er, trophies, for his shelf, and a new mystery to explore, as those bottles seem to be changing...

8-27-18: It has come as a no real surprise to the Clan that, after so long playing with the power inherent in Thunderstorms, this Pearlcatcher should acquire both a Voltaic Halo and a Conflagrant Halo as soon as he ventured out of the caves and into the changing world now filled with bountiful magic. The only question is why he didn't acquire a Water Halo as well....

6-9-19: It is still not unclear why this Pearlcatcher did not acquire a visual representation of his Water Magic at the same time as he did the others, but the lack has, finally been addressed: Today, after a powerful ripple of magical energy moved through the caves, a Fathomsearch Halo appeared around the Lightning Mage’s head. In all honesty, the Clan is more relieved than anything else, as the apparent imbalance in his magical aura had been worrying them quite a bit….

4-6-20: Recently some very strange magical changes have been occurring in the Lair. Perhaps the strangest of all is the shifting attitudes of the Clan's "Vault Familiars," many of whom have suddenly decided to rejoin their original dragons. "Grmupy," this Pearlcatcher's Scaleback friend, is the latest in a rush of familiars who have made this choice. The Pearlcatcher is fervently hoping that Grumpy's temperament has improved while he was away, but he's not counting on it...
