Elise prides herself on running the finest tearoom in Tenebris Grove, and quite possibly the whole of Cavernhill. This ranking is helped considerably by the fact that she’s the only tearoom in all of Cavernhill, especially if you don’t count the herb shop in Refuge that sells packets of tea blends amongst its other concoctions. Elise certainly doesn’t.

To her, a tearoom requires prompt service, delicious blends, and a singular dedication to an aesthetic. Fortunately, she and her place, The Dusty Marigold, have all of these things in spades. Unfortunately, the denizens of the Grove aren’t much interested in what Elise calls ‘the finer things’, and the town is still considered remote enough that few visitors stop through the establishment. The founding of Refuge and the growth of the Colonnades has helped some, but a brisk business day for the Marigold still amounts to only a trickle of customers. 

Elise deals with this by running a general store on the side. The place is somewhat musty and disorganized, stuffed to the brim with whatever a body would need to survive the woods and plains. It’s a stark contrast to the carefully curated appearance of her tearoom, but the store is more of a budgeting necessity than a passion, and it’s always well stocked, so most customers don’t mind. If you ask real nice, or know the right names to drop, Elise may mention, off-handed, that she has a few choice items she keeps in the back, and would you like to see them? Now, it goes without saying that these items aren’t stored upfront because she isn’t particularly supposed to have them, so don’t go mentioning the stock to the town council.

Erin
Despite her feelings about Aude’s herb shop, Elise has no particular quarrel with Erin and his apothecary. The two are nearly friends, after a way. Elise will invite him over for tea and some baked goods, and they’ll discuss tea blends and plant care, mixed in with a healthy amount of village gossip.

The beginning of their relationship was somewhat rocky, with Oenone’s live-in-the-moment earthiness rubbing against Elise’s structured primness. They had a singular ability to drive each other completely off a cliff within five minutes of starting a polite conversation. As Oenone is one of the few merchants that make the Grove part of their regular route, they eventually learned to live with each other, and most of their arguments are now more like light-hearted banter than they are actual disagreements. Most Grove residents agree this is a marked improvement. Most Grove residents also have a bet on which one is going to confess love first, however, so their judgment may be swayed by the pool. 43045334p.png
