Dragon Log

Playful and curious, she came to Arcane from Lightning Flight... and quickly left her roots behind. The magic of Arcane has fully claimed her for her own, and she is quite happy to belong to a Clan that enjoys researching off phenomena as much as she does. At the moment, she is too busy to choose a name, but it will almost certainly contain the word "magic," as that is her "bread and butter." In the meantime, she is having a lot of fun playing with spells and power, and helping her good friend Speallweaver with all her experiments...

9-27-14: She entered the Starfall Celebration Costume Contest this year, and showed off her love of being Arcane…as well as her admiration for the Arcanist, in the “Arcanist Impersonations” category…

She does not yet have a name, but makes up for it with her curious attitude and love of magic. She is constantly poking her nose into everything.... and somehow she always manages not to get it burned off or blasted or transformed, or, well you get the picture. :) Though she was born to Lightning Flight, she loves Arcane, and has even surrounded herself with a halo of pink in honor of her chosen Flight.

9-28-14: Though she did not win, she did enjoy herself immensely, and has decided to keep some of the apparel she borrowed from the hoard. Her Sakura Flowerfall and Pretty Purple Neck Bow look wonderful on her…and she is justifiably proud of being awarded the Starseer's Emblem for her work in magical energy...

10-23-14: In deference to her original birth Clan and Flight, the Clan found a Livewire Grizzly for this young Spiral to bond with. The friendship was a beautiful one from the beginning, and now has reached it's next step: The Grizzly has Awakened! He is brimming with ideas and plans, and this Spiral is more than happy to indulge him....

3-7-15: After many long nights, she has finally come up with a name for her friend: Meet Sparky! The Livewire Grizzly seems quite pleased...

6-8-15: While out hunting, Sparky found an unusual prize sunning herself on a rock. The Corundum Chameleon seems absolutely fascinated by the Lightning Bear, and equally fascinated by the Lightning Spiral... or perhaps it was the jewel around Sparky's neck, and the larger ones in the Spiral's personal hoard, that interest her?

9-8-15: The Corundum Chameleon has Awakened! Perhaps now she will stop trying to filch all the Spiral's jewels.... or will her plots to do so just become more intricate and devious?

10-8-15: Exactly one month from the Awakening of her second companion, this Spiral has found a third, courtesy of a combination of Alchemy, magic, and Spellweaver's sense of humor: A Juvenile Starsweeper has emerged form Baldwin's Cauldron, and joined the Clan! It took this playful sentiment magic several days to choose his place, but now he is happily settled as the third familiar of the magic-loving Spiral....

1-5-16: The Juvenile Starsweeper has Awakened--and is already planning new havoc! Her Spiral companion is eagerly anticipating the mayhem to come....

7-23-17: The Sparkmage--her newest attempt at a name--has been looking forward to the Lightning Festival for weeks, anticipating meeting the new, special familiar that would be coming home. She had been promised first shot at bonding with it, and she couldn't wait. Unfortunately, things have not worked out quite as she had hoped...

The pink Spiral heard a soft buzzing, and looked around in interest. As soon as she caught sight of what was coming towards her, her eyes lit up. "Ohhhh....a new meal!" With an excited squeal, she dove for the tasty-looking insect--only to have something very large, and very, very angry interpose itself, no himself, in between her and her intended target.
"You idiot!" The pink Coatl snapped in fury, "That's the new Lightning familiar!"
She blinked, pausing in mid-chew on the wing she had managed to snatch before Spinel had interfered. "A familiar? Not lunch?"
"NO!!!"
"Oh." She blinked again, and carefully spat out the poor wing. "Um, oops?"
Spinel glared at her, snatched up the wing, and turned to the trembling Lightning Bug. "I'm sorry," he said softly, gently pressing the wing back into place, and concentrating on summoning healing magic, "She's a Spiral, and, er, well, she's a bit, ah, excitable and often acts without thinking, but I'm sure she won't eat you now if you want to give her another chan--" He broke off, caught by those terrified blues eyes...

Oh dear...It looks like the Lightning familiar found a different companion after all. Well, perhaps the next one won't be an insect--or at least will be much, much bigger? And maybe Joxar can help the poor Spiral out next month...the Clan certainly hopes so, since there is no breaking Spinel's bond with the Lightning Bug....

8-27-17: After the disaster of last Festival, the "Sparkmage" was waiting tensely by the Clan's main cave entrance for Flameforger's to begin, and bolted out as soon as the sun rose. She flew as quickly as possible to Joxar's cart, hoping against hope to find what she was looking for...only to have to turn around and fly back when she realized that she had forgotten the treasure bag--and the Prismatic Tokens! Hastily grabbing the two bags, she whipped around and flew back out again, dodging the dragons heading for the main Festival grounds and nearly tying herself into a knot with the speed she was undulating through the air.

The Clan watched her in anticipation, already aware--thanks to a reply from the quick note Duskshadow had sent to Joxar earlier in the month--that the desperate Spiral would find what she sought...IF she could initiate a bond, and didn't mistake the poor nymph for dinner....

…Fortunately, it seems that the young Spiral has learned her lesson. She has returned to the cave with a beautiful, undamaged, Electric Nymph, named Jolt, and with her recently-absent grin returned to her face...

12-3-17: Jolt has Awakened! The Sparkmage is delighted for her friend, and eagerly waiting to see what the Electric Nynph does next...

7-23-18: The Thundercrack Carnivale is providing some dragons of the Clan a little extra excitement this year, although there are some that are skeptical of the claims being made about a certain Metamorpher machine....

The Sparkmage shot through the Festival, weaving among the stalls. How she loved coming "home" at this time of year! Not that it wasn't wonderful living in the Starfall Isles and combining Arcane magic with Lightning power, but sometimes she just enjoyed a chance to see the Shifting Expanse again...Dodging a pair of hurrying dragons, the Spiral twisted to see where they were going. Just at that moment, a roar of rage echoed through a stall nearby.

Immediately changing her direction, the Sparkmage shot off for the tent the noise had issued from. Anger usually meant experiments gone wrong, and that could be as exciting as experiments going right...

Ten minutes after that she was out of the tent again, heading quickly for her Clan's campsite. She needed to gather a few things from the communal stockpile. Making Sprockets was definitely not something she wanted to miss!

9-3-18: Things seem to be shifting in the Clan...or at least, certain magics are. A number of dragons have recently acquired physical representations of their different magical abilities, and these "halos" are not fading. The Sparkmage is no exception to this phenomenon, as she is now showing a Voltaic Halo with some pride--and some in the Clan are wondering why she is not showing signs of Arcane light as well...

9-7-18: Though she was promised "first dibs" at the Lightning Familiar this year, the Sparkmage declined her chance upon realizing that the Voltaic Ambassador was, in fact, a bug. Today, the mith bonded with a thoroughly flabbergasted Mystery, and the Sparkmage is once again waiting for next year's familiar, which, she devoutly hopes, will not be a tasty bug as well....

10-2-18: Recently, the Sparkmage has begun to consider names for herself again. At the moment she is vacillating between "Spellslinger" and "Spellblaster," having decided that she wants to honor both her Lightning roots and her Arcane Clan with her name. The Clan is a bit curious--and somewhat apprehensive--where this quest will lead her. In the meantime, however, she has something else to intrigue her, as the "missing" Arcane light many of the Clan has been expecting her to develop has finally appeared: The Sparkmage is the latest in a series of dragons to acquire a Spellwrought Halo overnight, a phenomenon she is quite proud of....
