_ A tiny baby Mirror waddles up to you, her steps awkward and her still-stubby tail waving around like a puppy's does when they begin to amble around on their own. The flat-footed steps lightly slap the floor of the nest chamber as her oversized hatchling legs work to keep her balanced and moving. The hatchling paws at your feet then gently bumps her head into your leg and plops onto her backside, looking up at you expectantly with a curious, innocent expression, the "smile" Mirrors seem to have. It's fitting, very visible on her bright white hide. The curves complement the soft, sloping pattern of the primary she inherited from her mother, though she seems a bit more adventurous than her broodmates.

_ A rather charming squeak pops out of her mouth when you don't respond to her small request for affection. She tilts her head, letting you get a clearer view of the pale green stripe running the length of her head and neck all the way down to the tip of her tail. It also brings into focus her most notable feature: several bright, yellow-green eyes blinking out of sync with one another. The red-ringed orbs reflect you in their every contour and you are clearly the focus for all of this blatant adoration. You suppose it's kind of cute in its own way, especially since she currently has no way of knowing that she's different from her siblings or unusual in any way.

_ She must see a lot of you.

Soft fabric and a shower of late spring petals,
an off-kilter gaze filled with affectionate praise.
Chocolate cake and marshmallow,
the wakening trees, libraries with wide windows.
The flash of small fish in the stream and a calming static,
morning clouds and weathered paper.
Many things known to only those who looked for them,
crochet needles and bright yarn. The memories of sea foam,
of an endless sky, and the wind chimes singing once more.
