Evonyxis (Evony) is a clan sorceress and alchemist.

She smells like the sweetest flowers, and between that and her coloring and wing pattern, butterflies and small animals flock to her. She loves them all and it breaks her heart a little each time she must sacrifice one for her potions or spells. But she never hesitates.

Evonyxis is an old name for the genus currently called Veratrum. Veratrum have extremely poisonous black rhizomes. Native Americans used the juice pressed from them to poison arrows before combat. The dried powdered rhizomes was also used as an insecticide.

The Pied Piper was a rat-catcher hired by a town in the middle ages town to lure rats away with his magic pipe. When the citizens refuse to pay for this service, he retaliated by using his instrument's magical power on their children, leading them away as he had the rats. In other versions of the legend, the Pied Piper was a symbol of hope to the people of Hamelin, which had been attacked by plague; he drove the rats from Hamelin, saving the people from the epidemic.
