Biography
Dublin is a good mother. She loves her children more than life itself. With her mate, Navale, at her side, she will do anything to protect them from danger. But there is a reason she is so vigilant. This is the tale of the day she lost her child to madness.
The wind carried the scattered embers from the Cottage's constant flames. Dublin watched them dance in the breeze for a moment before tucking back into her meal. The food had been brought in from the Viridian Labyrinth, so she knew it was quality.
After the meal was finished, Dublin returned to the Cottage with her family close behind her. One child, recently grown and one of the few Pearlcatchers she'd borne, complained of a stomachache. Once inside, she gave the child some soothing herbs and encouraged her to rest.
In the the days following the child's initial illness, she grew feverish and even delusional, despite Dublin's best efforts. Then one day, it all just stopped. The child was able to leave her nest and the fever had all but lifted. Unfortunately, when Dublin checked on her again, she wasn't talking any sense and mumbled on and on about finding her 'one true love'. The child even began acting as though she were better than her own mother and siblings.
Dublin tried her best to break the delusions, but the child insisted that she would find her true love, no matter what she had to do. One night, she just vanished. Dublin searched for her everywhere, but to no avail. Her child was gone, raving her mad delusions at any who approached. She cried into her mate's arms that day, fearing what other dragons would do to her poor, mad child.
Ever since that day, Dublin has vowed to protect her children with her very life. She still clings to the crumbled remains of the pearl her mad child once held so dear.
