B I O G R A P H Y

______ I was always a curious thing my mother told me. Even before the incident that changed everything for me I was always looking for trouble. My mother would tell me stories of how I would chase after the butterflies in the fields without a care in the world. Or how I would run in any direction all for a colorful leaf. She said I would even get distracted and start chasing my own shadow around. Her favorite story was the ones about how I would get surprised when the light flickered off the gems in my body. She could talk all day about how I would be so shocked whenever I saw the blues or yellows on the ground. She would always tell me that one day my beauty would help me in more ways than I could imagine. I never knew what she meant but I she was right after everything that had happened my looks did come in handy. My main body, horns, and most of my wings were white. My wings had a paint like splatter of pink over the white. My most stunning feature were the opal like chunks that were all over my body. Dragons always said that they made my golden yellow eyes stand out even more. I loved to explore and my colors only seemed to help in getting me into and out of trouble. My mother liked to say that I was to curious for my own good and one day she was proven right.

______ It was a warm day and my mother was taking me on an adventure! I was so excited, we were going to a pond that was known for the special stones at the bottom. They didn't have any magical powers, at least that's what we thought at the time. Usually they just shimmered in the sunlight and came in many different colors. We arrived pretty early in the morning wanting to beat some of the other older dragons that liked to hang out here. I was talking the whole was in my mother's claws. “I'm going to get so many pretty stone mama!’ I said to her as she lifted my up in her claws to respond back with “Just don't go into the water when I’m not looking. Okay?” She asked me wanting to make sure her point go across. I wasn't really listening to her words to caught up in my own fairy tails. “Sure mama!” I responded not really knowing what I was agreeing to. I wished more than anything now that I could go back in time and warn my younger self to listen to her words. “Where here!” I exclaimed jumping out of my mother's claws and rushing straight towards the water. I heard my mother chuckled before she told me to wait for her. I turned to see her talking to another mommy dragon, one of my friends. I quickly rushed away now was my chance! I went to the edge of the pond and quickly dove in. I walked into the clear water looking for the perfect stone. That's when I saw it.

______ It was like I was being compelled for it. A few meters out was a bright pink and shiny pearl. Not a stone but a pearl! I could believe my luck. I quickly started to wade out into the water and over towards the shiny item. Everything seemed to fade as I made my way towards the shiny object. First my surroundings seemed to close in until all I could see was the object in the water. Next I lost sense of the fact that I wasn't above water anymore. No I wasn't tall enough and the pearl was too deep for me to reach if I didn't go under water. Finally my mothers screams seemed to fade away until it was just me and the pearl. I reached out one opal blue paw and grasped the thing. I felt my arms pull out to my sides under the water and the pearl began to glow brighter and brighter. It became so bright that I had to close my eyes. I remember the feeling of my jaws being pulled open and something small making its way down my throat. Then it was all over. I was ripped out of the water and lifted onto the shore. I coughed and sputtered up gallons of water, but the thing that made its way into my mouth was nowhere in sight. Things seemed normal, I told my mom what happened and since nothing seemed to have happened to me. That was so long ago little did I know how one pearl could change your entire life.

______ That story was from thousands of years ago. Things have changed for everyone since then. People have grown, died, and been reborn. But not me, never me. After that day everything and nothings started to change. I no longer aged. I was trapped in my form from that day. My mind grew and I learned more and more, but my body never caught up. I was stuck, frozen in time for all to behold. I watched my friends, family, and loved ones grow old, find love, and die. All the while I stayed in my originally form. I'll never get to experience my first flight for my body is stuck at to young of an age. I'll never get to fall in love or join a clan to call my own. I have to move around a lot now. Hatchlings around my body's age start to show some signs of maturity in at least a month sometimes I could get away with two but that was it. I traveled from clan to clan. Using my cute looks and smarts to stay for a month or two before I disappear once more. It was a hard life and if it wasn't for my looks I would probably be starved by now. And that's how I lived now and forever it would seem. Alone, sad, and old in mind but never in body.
