____Children of the field medic and mortician often find themselves fascinated with cadavers and corpses. Some do eventually leave the nest to become healers (albeit unsettling ones with a less-than-ideal bedside manner) though a precious few reject their parents’ teachings entirely, instead setting out to forge their own path; others choose to put their knowledge to other uses and only time will tell whether they will use it for good.

Regardless, all depart with at least this one lesson in their heads: only the strong are spared by the Plague.

It takes a while for Aspen to realise that she doesn't like being cooped up in a healer's tent waiting for dragons to walk in for treatment. The itch to travel, to see the world and all it has to offer, soon grows too tempting and she leaves the moment her parents deem her training and education complete. And so, armed with knowledge and a desire to Do Good, Aspen sets off to find her destiny.

There are some lessons that can't be taught and she has to experience them for herself.

Those fortunate enough to meet her on her travels will find that she has a fondness for lavender tea and is a quiet but companionable visitor. Those unlucky enough to upset her will find themselves on the wrong end of a very sharp cleaver held by a tiny fae who knows how to use it.
