Biography

SANAJEH
The Hardy Wrangler

As a dragonet, Sanajeh spent many long days wandering the desert wilderness outside of his clan's lair, in the distant borderlands of Dragonhome where the creeping tendrils of the Wandering Contagion loom on the horizon, bringing with them all of their fierce virulence and savage flora and fauna. He learned how to survive in harsh and desolate environments, and also how to track down (or in some instances avoid the predatory attention of) the local wildlife. Sanajeh has always been fascinated by strange and wild creatures, great or small, scaly or furry, soaring or slithering. He has a fierce, healthy respect for them, which draws him toward them even as his common sense ensures that he doesn't get too close for his safety.

The Spiral left his home clan mostly because he wanted to explore, and see more of the fantastic beasts that roamed the wide world. As his adolescence melted into adulthood, Sanajeh's excursions from his clans grew into long expeditions, and one day he went out for a long trip, with no idea of when he'd return, and he simply didn't. That last fateful journey lead him across the globe, through the Wandering Contagion's vicious ecosystems to the mysterious gloom beneath the canopy of the Tangled Woods, down beneath the waves and through the reefs of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, to the desolate deserts of the Shifting Expanse, and to many more lands beyond. After many long years of living off the land alone and learning about all sorts of amazing animals, and occasionally staying with other dragons long enough to talk about it, at the end of his full life finally the wind bore his wings back to Dragonhome. Not long later, once he'd reunited with some of his old friends and relatives and they swapped their stories, he passed away peacefully in the lair he hatched in.

But somehow, fate had decided that this was not the final end for Sanajeh. Centuries past his burial in a humble tomb at the Cairnstone Rest, the surge of elemental magic rejuvenated many of the occupants resting there, Sanajeh included. Brought back to life in an ageless body of stone, Sanajeh set out on his own once more to unravel the mystery of his strange revival. He was not so quick to run off into the wilderness this time, at least not until he'd figured out what was going on. And besides, he'd returned to Dragonhome at the end with the intention of staying there. If he'd gotten a second chance, why do the same thing he'd done the first time? His slow journey lead him to a clan carved into the side of Greatwyrm's Breach, where already several others of his fossil kind had settled, and as there seemed to be a vacancy where animal care was concerned, Sanajeh decided that here was a place where he could keep doing the good work he loved and pass his knowledge on.

At the Diabase Demesne, Sanajeh takes care of the clan's assortment of unbound, non-sentient familiars. He keeps them penned in a number of enclosures, on the outskirts of the cluster of buildings directly above the main underground lair. The Spiral feeds and waters them, and also is able to tend to most of their ailments; some of them are animals he rescued from the wild, which he resuscitates and returns to the wild if he can, or looks after in the enclosure if they're too badly off to return to their natural lifestyle. Sanajeh adores them all, no matter how bizarre or dangerous they may be; some of his clanmates say that the more freakish or lethal an animal is, the more likely Sanajeh is to gush over it like it's an adorable baby kitten.

Sanajeh is a hardy Spiral, living out in the open. Even in inclement weather, he almost never retreats underground, as he takes it upon himself to guard his precious wards when fierce storms and other disasters strike. He's enthusiastic about his work, and fairly hard to anger, although Earthshaker help you if you endanger an animal and thereby incur his wrath. The Spiral has trained a few of his new clanmates to be able to look after the unbonded familiars and rescued animals in his stead, if he ever has to leave the territory for a while; usually he does so when he's restoring a rescued creature to the wild, or going off to observe a rare migration or simply to enjoy the sights of the wider world once more.
