"What?" Taara and Ryuusei questioned. "We don't have blood family. We were literally born out of stars."

"Yes, yes, I know this. Let me explain." When they fell silent, he continued. "Where flesh brothers and sisters are related by the blood that flows through their veins, all three of our eggs were cut from the same star. The Arcanist gave us our magic at the same time, as well. This means that we are to be considered siblings. I'm supposed to follow you and watch over you, as well as pass on my lineage."

Ryuusei and Taara looked to each other. So it wasn't just their time in training that brought them close together! They were really sisters! And this dragon...Najima?...was their brother, too! They weren't going to be alone in their journeys!

Before Najima could react, the two girls nuzzled each others' cheeks and spewed affections at each other...but they suddenly stopped in their tracks. "Wait, if you're our brother...why haven't we met before?"

Najima began explaining before she even stopped speaking. "I finished training months ahead of schedule. I've been here waiting for you both. We truly must get going. The stardust won't spread itself."

Ryuusei and Taara glanced at each other. Something seemed off about this brother of theirs. If he finished training months ahead of schedule, he had to be either very smart, or very good at sucking up to the teachers. He didn't seem charismatic enough for the latter, but the inflections in his voice made the former sound more likely.

As the three dragons began their flight, Taara spoke up. "How did you manage to finish the training months early?" Najima chuckled. "I guess I just learn quickly. I didn't need much time to finish my intelligence training, but the defense portion took a bit longer than normal."

He really must be smart, Taara thought. "It was the opposite for me!" Ryuusei exclaimed. "I got defense down easy, but I didn't take well to the information...I was very forgetful before the initiation..."

The brother smirked. "Ah yes, initiation. A beautiful ceremony." Najima remembered with pleasure all the flowing robes and sweet prose...and less fondly did he remember the flood of information poured into his mind and body. "The Calling of the Cosmos," they called it. It was this information that they were expected to pass to the dragons of Sornieth, and exactly why they were supposed to be passing on their lineage. Their children would go through the same initiation, inherit the same wisdom, and repeat the process, all for the good of Sornieth.

"So, where exactly are we going?" Ryuusei asked, breaking Najima from his memories. "The only place to find people suited to our kind. The Observatory."
