B I O G R A P H Y

______ He had been told that he was an unusual child when he was born. Despite the odds in genetics, he was his father's first naturally born imperial. At the time, he couldn't comprehend what that meant, but he knew that everyone around him treated him differently despite saying he was the same as his siblings. As time passed, it became more and more apparent the rift that existed and he secretly hated it. Everyone seemed to have some high standard for his life regardless of whether it was something he wanted or not.

______ Though his resentment ran deep, he was not one make waves. He was excellent in his studies, but kept his presence low and personality humble when his professors and trainers lauded him with praise. As he walked the halls, he could hear the whispers of those around him chattering away amongst themselves. Most was of adoration, but there were some that were more decrying. When the end of his schooling years began to draw close, he knew he would have to decide what to do with himself and the anxiety began to rise in him.

______ What am I going to do? Everyone expects me to take up some high office or be the next greatest whatever... I cannot stand this..., he thought as he stared aimlessly out from a bastion wall of his college. A soft laugh broke him out of his pensiveness when he was stuck in a loop of anxious thought. "My, oh, my, love. If you think any harder, I fear you may set the trees aflame!"

______ Gazing up in the direction of the voice, he found a dark complected woman watching him from where she rested against bastion wall on her elbows. Amusement danced in her ice green eyes as she regarded him with a smile and a laugh, "Speechless, I see."

______ "I- Sorry, I'm not used to finding anyone else up here," he stammered. She tilted her head, then turned her gaze out over the wall where mountains rose beyond a lush evergreen forest, "Oh, I come here often, just not during the waking hours as my studies require very specific timing. I'm Iachadiel, occultist."

______ An occultist? He had been in every wing of this establishment and he had never heard of a course on the occult or any variation thereof. Additionally, if she frequented this spot, wouldn't he have run into her sooner at one point? His brow furrowed as his thoughts turned over what he knew until her voice snapped him out of it again. "Hello? Sornieth to dreamer!"

______ "Ah, sorry, I have a lot on my mind with graduation coming up. My name is Nebuchadnezzar, but everyone just calls me Khan," he said while extending a hand out. She regarded him with a tilt of her head, her eyes unreadable as she shook his hand. Her hand was soft but belied a strength in them. She smiled warmly, "A pleasure. And what brings you to this lovely hangout we share?"

______ "Nothing special really."

______ "Mhmm, must be a whole lot of something to have had you lost as you were," she laughed softly, eyes dancing playfully before she turned her gaze out to the horizon.
