Memento mori (Latin: "remember that you have to die") is the medieval Latin Christian theory and practice of reflection on mortality, especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits.

Memento mori has been an important part of ascetic disciplines as a means of perfecting the character by cultivating detachment and other virtues, and by turning the attention towards the immortality of the soul and the afterlife.

This curse would be traced down his lineage. All Moros' children were destined to die, like any dragon. But they would be given a second chance. It was up to the children if they would accept the bargain.

In his life he had found many mates, some simply left him in favor of more advantageous partners, while others had died from illness or injury leaving him alone as the same took all of his children. it was this soul deep sadness which lead him to wander after his latest and longest term lover had fallen ill and after months of fighting it had died in his arms. he found himself working in a clan as a blacksmith, he had left without a word as he had no ties to the clan nor would anyone look for him.
He met Skelly while he was traveling near the sea of a thousand currents, he could see the pain in her eyes, it was a pain he recognized and it drew him to her like a moth to a flame. it did not take long for him to fall in love nor for her to love him, their hatchlings suffered the same fate as his others and to see such anguish on his lover hurt him more than anything ever could have.

He and Skelly took to the sea in what he hoped would be a journey to find why his hatchlings did not survive to their first moon, but he would never find such answers as a storm took the ship and those on it, sparing only Skelly. fear and pain made him swim upward yet even as he swam it seemed as if hand pulled him down and soon the fight left his limb and he sank down.

He woke in pain and racked with a coughing fit, spitting up water and gasping as he looked around only to find that he had washed up on a shore. slowly he climbed to his feet and looked around, ghosts looked back at him, dragons he recognized as those who had been on the ship with him, all but Skelly. determined to find his lover he took to traveling in hopes of finding her and maybe a clan they could live in, he was unsure if she would take him back, but the thought of seeing her and loving her again brought a new energy of it's own to his wanderings.

After some time he found a clan that needed a blacksmith and joined in hopes of earning coin and continuing his travels until he saw a small ghost, a hatchling, the small one smiled and waved at him. finally he followed the little creature to the bay where two ships floated peacefully, it didn't take long for something to climb back on land, upon closer look he realized it was Skelly.
Skelly turned her wild eyes on him and seemed to hesitate as she lifted a claw tipped hand, she reached forward and gently touched him "Alive." she whispered, before curling around him as he placed his hands on her cheeks "I am." he agreed gently.
