Clydri

She originated from the The Fortress of Ends. She never liked it there, and, at last, left when the frost finally got to her. The ice remains covering her body, slowly creeping deep into her heart... She stumbled upon the clan Snowflames, and met a dragon who also fell victim under the icy plague. They now work together to attempt to break the winter's curse.

Clydri sat on the edge of the icy ledge which by now had been fitted to her figure from all of the hours she had sat there. Her clan swirled below her, trying to take advantage of the last of the daylight to finish whatever tasks they could before night stripped the light away. Clydri glared into the setting sun that framed a silhouette of the icy horror that she once called home. Memories of pain and the freezing cold raced through her brain, but she shook it off and replaced it with the memories of finding her new home.

A squeal came swirling up on the wind and she turned her gaze to her clan below her. Four hatchlings ran around chasing each other, laughing and squealing the whole way, and Clydri’s eyes softened. She smiled as she watched the hatchlings play, longing to have had experiences like that early in her own life.

The sunset began to turn to dusk, so Clydri stood to leave. Despite being able to fly down, she preferred the walk. She wanted to soak in every moment and every particle of the safe, lovely world around her. As she reached the edge of the slope to go back down to her home, two Crested Newts scampered past her and began to slide down the slope. She gave a soft chuckle which allowed a plume of frozen breath to escape from her mouth as she watched them slide. After they were out of sight, she followed by cautiously inching down the pathway.

The whistling wind blew through the silks hanging from her wings and promising to lift her off the ground. She all of the sudden let go of the slope and moved her wings with the rhythm of the wind. She still flew slowly above the path to observe everything around her. The soft whoosh of her wings along with the wind was the only sound remaining in the night. As she landed at the edge of the clan’s residence, she turned and took a deep breath, taking in one more moment of the night air.
