Children of the monster hunter (who is part monster himself) and the handler often inherit their father's beastly appearance and tendencies. The transformation happens under very different circumstances-- for some, only moonlight will trigger the change, for others, panic will do just fine.

Their parents aren't used to taking care of hatchlings, so what childhood they have is often little and quite precious. Regardless, there is one thing no one dares deny:

Even monsters are capable of love.

The second of the crow twins, Mokoya-- or 'Moko', for short-- is sly, clever and keeps her cards close to her chest. Unlike Akeha, her twin, Mokoya tends to think things through and isn't one to let others know what's on her mind. She refuses to participate in discussions, instead choosing to listen and preferably remaining unseen. Few know that she even exists; Mokoya knows that her brother is loud enough for the both of them and she likes it that way.

The same unblinking stare, the same unsteady step, the same healing scars. Mokoya and her twin were indistinguishable from birth, even to their own parents. Till she steps into the light, no one can tell either twin apart.

As for why the pair are known as the crow twins, well, all one has to do is to incline their gaze skyward (or treeward) for an obvious explanation.

Mokoya finds her fancy lies with the crows and magpies, the schemers and the thieves. She converses with them in their lilting tongue, often trading secrets and bits of gossip like precious currency. They are brief, even if delightful, companions, nothing more, and she will not shed a tear should any one of them pass. You can pass that dark alcove or that hidden nook a thousand times and you will see neither her nor the secret, sullen smile she shares only with her corvine friends.

She feels the pull of her monster roots more keenly than her twin, but this does not faze her parents at all. Perhaps one day, she will succumb to the urge and let ink-black wings pull her into their embrace, but for now, while the sun still shines and there are secrets to be spilled, she will keep fighting.
