"Would you like to pet my frog?" — Ariadne
ONewQ3Z.png

Ariadne is an average Imperial who loves her simple civilian life. She loathes conflict, and would prefer to go along with the crowd. Last months' fashion-forward civilians took on an appearance of stained glass, so Ariadne followed suit. The flashier the scales, the more confident she would appear, she told herself. No one told her the makeover would require daily maintenance, but Ariadne pretends it doesn't bother her. Everything is fine, nothing out of the ordinary, being carefree is trendy, and she must fit in!!!

tumblr_osxp30XV2e1tv56zio2_250.png Born and raised on the Mirrorlight Promenade, Ariadne has never left the Sunbeam Ruins, nor has she gone out of her way to experience anything particularly risky. While some dragons would prefer to curl indoors with a book during rainy weather, Ariadne enjoys this activity at all times, if only to escape the responsibilities of nannying for a moment. Ariadne's natural motherly instincts led her to volunteer at the Mirrorlight Library to babysit hatchlings as families would visit and require some time to peruse the books in silence. The Mirrorlight Library didn't compare to the establishment at the Beacon, but Ariadne didn't mind. The hatchlings were mostly sweet, and she got to stay at the library for free. Ariadne grew irritated when asked if she was a librarian. The Imperial was no scholar, unless it was related to hatchling-proofing lairs and frog watching. There was a little garden outside the nursery window where various amphibians would chase the insects that had come to inspect the flowers. Ariadne grew fond of one little frog, a horned, brown creature whose croak was atrociously loud. The frog was cute in its own way, so it became Ariadne's companion. It liked to scream at unruly hatchlings. After a time, the library regulars didn't appreciate this, so Ariadne was excused from her duties. Dejected, with frog in tow, Ariadne moved to the Beacon to find work as a gardener. There was even a bi-monthly book club that met in one of the Beacon's cushy reading rooms. Ariadne found some new friends here, though she left her frog at home for the meetings.
Tall tales were no mystery to Ariadne. Goodness knows, the book club conjured enough of them between the gossip whispered and the novels explored. But there was one particularly far-fetched sounding tidbit that wouldn’t escape Ariadne’s imagination. Dear old Margaret mentioned the labyrinth after a spot of tea in one of these meetings. The other mothers in the group laughed at the notion of another ruin underneath their feet, for if it truly existed, wouldn’t it have been discovered by now? Every so often, a dark murmur regarding this rumor would catch Ariadne’s attention, but her friends disregarded the new developments. The hatchlings would be fine, dear, it was probably nothing more than some old tourist trap. But Ariadne had to be sure. With the help of a few other rumormongers, Ariadne whittled down the list of archeologist guilds within the Sunbeam Ruins til she found one that looked most likely to be hiding the mysterious labyrinth. When she met Knossos, her suspicions only grew. He spoke often of his assistant, yet never once did she meet her. Perhaps she would take Knossos up on his offer of exploring during Brightshine and see this labyrinth once and for all.
