Requiem was hatched for but a few minutes before his lair was completely flooded, the only survivors of this flood being his adoptive mother, father, who are both pearlcatchers, and his younger brother, who was, at the time, an egg.

The four had walked for not even a few hours when Requiem, normally quiet and obedient, spoke up. Requiem had begun telling his parents of the fireflies who spoke to him. Fearing the plague had driven Requiem mad, his parents abandoned him, leaving him alone in the hostile wastes. He, however, was not alone. Guided by his ancestors who took the form of fireflies, Requiem was able to escape to the tangled woods, where he was guided to the lake of souls, and taken in by ████████. Requiem tends to stray from social interaction in favor of talking to the gathering of fireflies that follow him everywhere.

One day, Requiem was approached by a loud, energetic fae named Serenade, who claimed to be his younger brother. Requiem ignored this, day after day, but the crazed younger fae would not leave him alone. Deciding that Serenade had been driven thoroughly insane, Requiem gave him a map that had a red line scribbled randomly over its surface and told him it was a treasure map. Requiem hasn't seen him since. He sure does get a lot of letters, though.
