Dragon Log

A slightly aloof Pearlcatacher, he focuses most of his magical energy on a union with the sea. Which, considering the Clan’s position in the Starfall Isles, often leaves poor Seaspray out of sorts. He enjoys a number of trips to the coast of the island, and hardly ever spends much time at home. He has, however, struck up something of a friendship with a young Spiral who shares his link to the Water element…though friendship is all it is, so far.

10-19-14: His Poisonous Toridae has Awakened! This is a relief to them both, as it means that Seaspray no longer has to spend so much time at home, and the Toridae does not have to worry about inconveniencing him…perhaps his next companion will be capable of flight?

10-22-14: The Toridae is resting, having made it clear that he has no interest in a journey to the sea any time soon. Which is perfectly all right with Seaspray, as an Amaranth Moth has taking a liking to him.....

11-29-14: Despite his protests that he would really prefer to make a trip to the sea again--or perhaps because of them--Duskchadow declared that Seaspray needs to spend a little more time associating with the Clan, and chose him as one of the dragons to journey to the Rockbreaker's Ceremony this year. The aloof Pearlcatcher managed to avoid most of the festivities, insisting that no, he was not bored, and did not need to be bothered with rocks, or anything else, thank you very much...but today the Clan Mother managed to convince him to enter the Festival grounds on an errand...

Seaspray moved through the stalls, looking for his wayward Clanmates. While it was not, yet, time to gather them up for the trip back home, it was getting close, and the Clan Mother wanted to know where everyone was, so they wouldn't have anyone left behind this time.... especially the younger ones, who tended to get into trouble. Seaspray did not mind the task, as it gave him a chance to partake in some of the Festival himself, something the solitary Pearlcatcher did not often do.

Wandering down one row after another, noting several of his Clan, and passing the word that they would need to congregate at camp soon, he came upon a stall with a large tub of water. The Pearlcatcher's eyes lit up. Now this was a game he could enjoy! He'd always had an affinity to water as well as wind... and now a game where you had to find things in water?

Seaspray waved at the Mirror manning the stall, asking permission, and then hurried quickly to the end of the line. He had all day to round the Clan up, after all, and there were others searching as well... soon enough it was his turn, and he happily plunged his head in the water, reaching for an especially bright object whose ambient power just seemed to call to him....

[Seaspray found a Rusty Chest]

Seaspray stumbled back, landing flat on his tail. The chest landed on top him, startling out a big oomph! He pushed it off, quickly checked that his pearl was safe, and rolled back to his feet. Oh dear... that was a bit.... bigger than he had expected.... how was he supposed to find the missing dragons now? He couldn't lug this after him all over the place!

He sighed. There was nothing for it. He reached into a pocket of air beside him and took out a runestone. Being a Wind mage and friends with a certain hyperactive Spiral experimenter certainly had it's advantages, but he hated to use these, as they took hours to charge properly. Grumbling at the necessity, he dropped the stone on top of the chest, and tapped it once with his claw. Instantly, the chest glowed blue, then vanished in a puff of air, headed back to the Camp. Hopefully the others wouldn't bother it until he got back....

Remembering his manners, he turned to the Mirror who manned the stall, and bowed in acknowledgement. "Thank-you! This was certainly a bigger prize then I expected... but much appreciated, I assure you. A very Happy Rockbreaker's to you!"

After getting an acknowledgement, he turned away to continue his search for the missing dragons of his Clan. Playtime was over and it was time to get back to work....

It looks like Seapsray found something to enjoy at the Festival after all, and a nice addition to the hoard while he was at it...

1-19-15: The Amaranth Moth has Awakened! Fittingly enough, it happened right before the Skydancer was about to set out for his latest adventure. Now, with the fully mature Moth by his side, it will be even more enlightening....

3-5-15: While on the prowl near a small inlet, Seaspray discovered an interesting magical aberration. His fellow Clanmates aren't sure what to make of the new addition, but the River Muck seems quite happy to join the family....

6-2-15: The River Muck has apparently Awakened.... but some of the dragons of the Clan think Seaspray is faking it. After all, the glob of... something... doesn't look any different than it did yesterday.... unless it's a bit bigger....Seaspray, however, is quite sure his companion has progressed to the next step in their bond. Perhaps he will be looking for another companion soon?

2-20-16: The River Muck has oozed its way into the back of the Vault, where it seems to be context to stay. Seaspray does not seem to be all that upset with this turn of events... perhaps he is simply too enamored of the new familiars that have begin to hang around the Clan to notice, though none of them seem that interested in him as of yet....

4-27-17: It has been some time since Seaspray has attended a Festival, but the Wavcrest Saturnalia seems especially alluring this year…

The lure of water called to Seaspray as he walked down the street. This city was absolutely wonderful! Despite his birth in Wind Flight and residence in an Arcane Clan, the strange Pearlcatcher had had a fascination with the sea since his birth... and a city that usually rested under the surface of the water was just... perfect. He smiled, catching sight of his Clanmate by one of the canals. Now, what was she doing?

Coming up behind Neptunia, Seaspray watched the younger Tundra trying to... fish? No Dowse! Oh fun! Maybe he could find some nice treasure or gems for Wavedancer to admire... he had noticed that his young friend was a bit out of sorts today....

Smiling at the hosting Pearlcatcher, the usually aloof dragon gave a slight bow. "Might I try a go at your treasure seeking, my lady?"

4-28-17: Seaspray's efforts did not yield much in the way of treasure or gems, but he still had a good time with the Dowsing, before he headed across the city to explore other delights....

4-29-18: Seaspray missed the festivities at the Wavecrest Saturnalia this year, too upset by rumors of the disappearance of the Tidelord to make the journey. The Clan was, at the time, quite concerned for the emotional stability of the Wind/Water Dragon, as they are for all the Water dragons, and chosen Water dragons, of the lair. It seems, however, that even if the other dragons can't find ways to cheer up their desperate Clanmates, there are others who can, and there is no longer quite as much reason to be concerned for Seaspray: He received a very pleasant shock when Joxar's Wind Nymph chose him as her companion. His affinity to water has meant that this particular Pearlcatcher has often been overlooked by creatures of his own birth element, but the Cloud Nymph apparently does not mind a dragon who loves Wind and Water both, and already their bond is sealing faster than most...

7-31-18: Seaspray has actually been seen smiling today--the first true cheerful expression on his face since the disappearance of the Tidelord. The reason, of course, is obvious: It has been a long process, punctuated by several trips outside the Clan, and a great deal of frolicking in the waves and air both, but the Cloud Nymph has finally Awakened! She chose to commemorate her first day of full maturity by choosing her name at last. Fittingly, it is a name that combines both wind and water into one: Meet Jetstream! Seaspray appears content with the name, and much happier with life in general. The Clan is extremely relieved by both these facts, and Moondust has vowed to give the newly Awakened Nymph a very nice gift in thanks for her efforts on behalf of his Clanmate--just as soon as he can figure out what a Nymph would want....

4-21-19: Once again, the strange magics permeating Sornieth have caused a visual change in a dragon's magical energy, but this particular dragon is not distressed at all. In fact, Seaspray is practically beaming at the thought that his Aerborne Halo and Fathomseach Halo appeared at exactly the same time, while he was playing with Jetstream, his Cloud Nymph. After all, if Wind and Water magic are still both affecting him, then the Tidelord has to be out there somewhere, and still considers him one of His Chosen...

...Seaspray was so thrilled, he actually attempted to use a Festival Item--something he has never done before--and he succeeded admirably. Now he has a Fathomsearch Spirit Jug keyed to his magic, and is already producing odd water spirits almost hourly...oh dear...well, at least he is happy again, right?

9-8-19: Seaspray got quite a shock today, when a familiar, one that has studiously been ignoring all attempts to bond with her, suddenly chose him as her companion. For the life of him, he cannot figure out why "Flitter" the Wind Sprite would want him, when there are quite a few other dragons clamoring for her attention. She has made her decision very clear, however, and refuses to even go near any other dragons, Wind or otherwise. But after all, as the Clan Mother tried to gently point out to the old Water Mage, he IS the longest resident native Wind Dragon in the Clan. Is it really that surprising that the most powerful Wind Familiar would find him a suitable match? True, she's not associated with Water, but perhaps it is time for him to focus on his birth element as well as his chosen one. After all, it was a Wind Storm that took the Tidelord. Maybe a Wind Mage is what is needed to find Him again....

12-10-19: Flitter has Awakened at last! Seaspray is very happy for his friend, and even more hopeful that the now fully mature Wind Sprite will be able to help him figure out what that awful Wind Storm did to the Tidelord...

3-26-20: Seaspray wanted to continue to explore ideas about how the Tidelord could have vanished, but the Clan Mother had other ideas. She very firmly insisted that he travel to the Mistral Jamboree this year, and attend the Cloudsong Celebration. She would not listen to a single protest he made, and se he ended up in the last place he wanted to be--and yet, there was something…almost soothing…about being on the balloon again…and after wandering for quite a bit, he finally figured out what it was: His birth magic was reacting to the Winds surrounding him, and beginning to settle for the first time in far, far too long. And as it did, the Dual Mage began to remember what Wind was all about, and realize that his Birth Flight could not possibly have attributed to the Tidelord’s disappearance… ( )

And so Seaspray is feeling truly happy for the first time in over a year. He even managed to find a dual focus to help him bring his two magical affinities back into balance! And oh yes, he aslo found some delicious peaches to eat, courtesy of a very friendly Bogsneak managing that lovely little stall in an out-of-the-way corner. ( , )

3-29-20: For the first time in what seems like forever, Seapsray has truly enjoyed himself. His emotions are stable again, his mind is settled…and his magic is beginning to work much better than before. Odd, how he hadn’t even realized there was a problem with that until it adjusted back. But now he understands why he has been feeling so out of sorts, and he knows how to fix it. And he is once again enjoying combining the feel of his Birth Element with a touch of the sea. ( ) It’s a true shame that the Cloudsong Celebration won’t last forever, but all good things must come to an end eventually. Still, he is returning home with some wonderful new toys, and a much clearer understanding of his own dual affinity. It seems that the Clan Mother was right to send him to the Festival after all…

4-8-20: Upon Seaspray's return to the Clan, he discovered to his delight that his old friend the River Muck has oozed his way back into the main caves, and returned to Seaspray's sleeping area. The rest of the Clan is not nearly as pleased...

4-26-20: Seapsray has headed to the Wavecrest Saturnalia again! This year he is looking for a particular Tundra Dragon, named Bob, who is rumored to be supplying worthy dragons with Ships in a Bottle--and what better way to combine Seaspray's Wind and Water elements than with a Sailboat? Of course, he might not get that lucky, but he can try.... ( )

…And he found one! Of course, he also found a Tugboat and a Container Ship…but oh well…You can never have too many boats…

3-28-21: Seaspary has put his boats away for now, in order to enjoy the delights of his other element: It’s time for the Mistral Jamboree, and the Cloudsong Celebration! Perhaps if he leaves now, he can beat the crowds and get some tasty food before it’s all gone… ( )

3-29-21: The Dual Mage did not exactly beat the crowds, but he did get a chance to see a great show while he munched on his fried grasshoppers. ( ) And he has even gotten a new friend out of it! Although the Clan probably won’t be quite so pleased with the addition of an Aberrant Chacma to the family, and Seaspray’s plan to introduce the Deeprealm Leon to Wavedancer is likely to cause some chaos as well… ( )

6-6-21: The Aberrant Chacma has Awakened! Seaspray is very happy for his friend, and interested to see what he will do with this newfound energy. Hopefully, it will be something beneficial to the Clan...

4-1-24: The Cloudsong Celebration is always an interesting time for Seaspray, though some years are more...productive than others. When he returned from his fun there this year, he was shocked to find a new friend hiding in the chest he had received. The Flighted Molecrcicket is quite Tolerant of him already, and it kind of cute, when looked at the right way... [Needs updatng]
