Biography
So I’ve decided to try a new type of Scatterquest! This young lass is named after the lesser used term for Asphalt. Also I just realised she’s a 4 off XYX so that’s pretty cool too.
Bitumen’s egg was found by excavation teams in the Ashfall Waste. Through a series of shady business decisions, Cyan managed to acquire the egg which he then offered Capone as partial payment of his ‘protection fee’. Once the child hatched the Tundra had her trained up as a Miner to facilitate his dealings in precious minerals. Capone gave Bitumen her Pearl once she'd purchased the necessary scrolls to become a fully gened Pearlcatcher (from Cyan no less) as a show of good faith. It comes in handy as a geolocator.
Bitumen is a hard worker with a diligent work ethic. She coughs frequently and her coat is often streaked with soot which is very hard to wash off. Her faceted eyes act as torches to light her way through the underground tunnels and guide her to deposits. An accomplished excavator with a strong stomach and hardy constitution, Bitumen is loyal to those that pay her handsomely for her finds. After all, mining is dangerous and dirty work! She often does deals with Hera too! Though, despite considering each other 'associates' they try to rip each other off sometimes. Cyan is proud of the discord he has caused.
She has been given an apprentice in Dragmire, though she's none to thrilled about it. Still, he comes in handy in tight spaces and yields a good profit- when she can wrestle the gems off him.

aggregate particles to create asphalt concrete. Its other main uses are for bituminous waterproofing products, including production of roofing felt and for sealing flat roofs.
The terms "asphalt" and "bitumen" are often used interchangeably to mean both natural and manufactured forms of the substance. In American English, "asphalt" (or "asphalt cement") is commonly used for a refined residue from the distillation process of selected crude oils. Outside the United States, the product is often called "bitumen", and geologists worldwide often prefer the term for the naturally occurring variety. Common colloquial usage often refers to various forms of asphalt as "tar", as in the name of the La Brea Tar Pits.
Naturally occurring asphalt is sometimes specified by the term "crude bitumen". Its viscosity is similar to that of cold molasses while the material obtained from the fractional distillation of crude oil boiling at 525 °C (977 °F) is sometimes referred to as "refined bitumen". The Canadian province of Alberta has most of the world's reserves of natural asphalt in the Athabasca oil sands, which cover 142,000 square kilometres (55,000 sq mi), an area larger than England.

Asphalt, also known as bitumen (UK: /ˈbɪtjʊmɪn/, US: /bɪˈtjuːmən, baɪ-/), is a sticky, black, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. It may be found in natural deposits or may be a refined product, and is classed as a pitch. Before the 20th century, the term asphaltum was also used. The word is derived from the Ancient Greek ἄσφαλτος ásphaltos. The primary use (70%) of asphalt is in road construction, where it is used as the glue or binder mixed with |
