 ~~~~~ The Watcher     Arrogant | Bitter | Proud The Way |
"A name is a powerful thing, and mine need only be spoken aloud once. So tell me, will you invoke it? Will you set me free?" Who is he? What is his purpose? These questions are always asked in hushed whispers but a true answer never comes. Swathed in green and gold, covered with thorned vines and delicate silks and older than time itself, none may know his true self. To look into his eyes is to feel the entire world looking back, seeing all and judging with the most critical gaze. His origins are a mystery to most, save those few old enough to have been there at his beginning, and not a single soul knows his one true name. Few of those who know of his past dare whisper it, but it is said that though his armor is now corroded and rusted he was once a mighty warrior who sought immortality. Driven only by his own arrogance and pride he managed to find what he so determinedly searched for though what he found became a curse rather than a blessing. The immortality he sought came at a price he hadn't foreseen and now he sits bound to the Behemoth for all eternity, a living death lacking any honor or glory. His name quickly faded into obscurity, one conceited warrior replaced by many after until nearly all had forgotten him much to his despair. There he remains at the center of his birthplace to bitterly contemplate the vanity and hubris that led him here and whatever ancient power or ritual he used to achieve this cursed immortality has since been hidden and locked away forever, the knowledge a forbidden topic that only a handful of ancient dragons still breathing remember. Bound to the Behemoth he is now known simply as 'The Watcher' as that is all he can do, watch. He has watched the Behemoth grow, he has watched the jungle flourish, he has watched clans of dragons come and go, some survive and some don't. It is the Gladewalkers who now claim him as their own, if only to watch he who watches, some of the Sages knowing him personally. Yet there is no one that can free him. The only way to finally set him free is for his one true name to be spoken just once, that which was forgotten long ago and lost to the annals of time. Until then he sits and waits, forever paying the price of his sins until fate finally sets him free. So only one important question remains,
'What is my name?'
