Starving and all alone, the little hatchling tried his best to survive in the Scarred Wasteland, hiding in bonepiles by day and scavenging for food by night. Mutation and disfigurement are common in the Plaguelands, and he was no exception; born without skin, he was lucky to survive his first day. He was abandoned by his parents for reasons never known to him, and his chances of survival were very low. Close to starvation and losing hope, it was on his third day that he was found by a formidable Ridgeback named Zeus... who gave him the name Meat and brought him home to his lair.

Being small and nearly defenseless, and of a timid nature, Zeus sought to put Meat at ease by appointing him a good companion. The undead monster might not have been very pretty to look at, but despite its advanced state of falling-to-ruin, it was seemingly good tempered and even seemed to like the young Ridgeback. Meat quickly grew very fond of his large raddled friend, and could often be seen trying to feed it with little success... the Featherback doesn't seem interested in food in its condition of undeath.
