Dragon Log

A beautiful dragoness from a Clan elsewhere in Arcane, she came to the Clan looking for something new, and found it. Now she is happily settled as a full adult member of the Clan, and even considering taking a mate. But who to choose?

10-9-14: Her friend the Sickle Kamaitachi has Awakened! The unlikely pairing has come to a successful conclusion, and she is quite pleased for her companion. Especially since he has not tried to use his claws on anyone for a full week...

10-25-14: After a bit of a tussle with one of the hatchlings, the Sickle Kamaitachi brought his friend the spoils of the fight: a Dodo....

1-22-15: It was a long, hard battle keeping the Dodo from becoming a meal for one of the Clan, but in the end, it was worth it: He has Awakened! The Skydancer is thrilled that her efforts paid off so well. Now that he can defend himself, she can devote more time to figuring out her name.....

2-10-15: The quest for a name continues... but now a new member has joined the little "family": The Longneck Mender, Wary of the Clan as a whole, has begun to spend more and more time near this particular Skydancer.....

5-10-15: The Longneck has reached the next stage in his maturity, and Awakened to a being a full member of the Skydancer's family--and the Clan. After having spent so much time with a Clan where most of the dragons do not fight--and with a dragon companion who absolutely hates the idea of the Coliseum--his more mild nature has had a chance to grow stronger. It is doubtful that the Beastclan he came from would recognize their original Healer in the gentle being that he has become... now if only he and his dragon both could come up with names for themselves!

9-12-15: In keeping with the theme of the Skydnacers of the Clan--and in honor of her parents' names of Sorcerer and Enchantress--she has chosen to name herself after the most known magical spell--even if it never works when she tries to use it.....

1-28-16: Abra entered the 2016 Crystalline Gala Sornieth Winter Games! The Clan was extremely surprised at her choice, but she has been practicing in secret all Winter.... ( )

…And that practice has managed to enable her to make quite a good showing on the slopes! Hopefully it will be enough to Place…

1-31-16: Sadly, Abra’s efforts were not enough to enable her to win a Medal. She did, however, have a lot of fun, and she is already looking forward to next year…

6-2-16: Abra has been resting after her excitement on the slopes.... and trying desperately to avoid the unwanted attentions of the Mirror Riddle, who simply will not give up. For a time she thought he would be satisfied with Nebula--who he grew to like after tasting some of her cooking--but it was not to be. One mating and 2 hatchlings later and Riddle was back to bothering Abracadabra, insisting that they were "meant to be." Lumos, Abra's gentle mate, is unsure what to do, and her adopted children are seriously considering challenging the dark Mirror to a duel to defend their mother's honor...

…Or at least, her Pearlcatcher son is considering it. Her Nocturne daughter has other ideas: She has managed to entice a Scarlet Serpenta into their sleeping area in the caves, and given it the task of guarding her mother from unwanted admirers. While this may prove useful in the long run, it has also had the unintended consequence of chasing the Sickle Kamaitachi into the Vault....

9-12-16: The Scarlet Serpenta has Awakened! She has settled in well in her chosen "family," and actually does seem to have had limited success in keeping Riddle at bay. Perhaps now that she is fully mature she will be able to completely keep him at away...

11-1-16: In an attempt to dissuade Riddle from his extremely unwanted interest, and in order to fulfill a long-held desire of her own, Abracadabra asked Lumos to give her a hatchling. Her mild-mannered mate was extremely accommodating, and now 2 eggs sit on the hatching grounds. Abra's adopted son and daughter are waiting eagerly to greet their new siblings.... and Riddle has been firmly informed by Duskshadow that if anything happens to either egg, he will be held personally responsible. Will this move finally convince him to take his attentions elsewhere? Somehow the other dragons doubt it...

11-6-16: The eggs have hatched! Abra is happily fussing over her new son and daughter, and growling whenever Riddle even thinks of coming near....

...Though in truth, she has nothing to worry about, as her little daughter aptly demonstrated when she kicked Riddle right in the nose....

2-28-17: While trying out the Trickster's Cards, Abra found something far more to her liking than stage tricks. Now she is wearing a Solar Flame Collar, Cloak and Tail Jewel. Lumos is delighted with his mate's choice of wardrobe.... and Riddle seems a bit... taken aback. Though that could be because when he tried to compliment her on it, Abra's daughter Bombarda actually snarled at him....

1-30-18: After a year of enforced retirement due to a sprained wing, Abra is once again competing in the Sornieth Winter Games Skiing Section, and this time she even has some goggles to help her, courtesy of the dragon attendant... ( )

Abra is very proud of her new goggles, and hoping they will help her to win, now that she doesn’t have to worry about going snowblind. She has a lot to prove to herself, after all, now that her wing is better. And now it’s time to get to the slopes and see how things go… ( )

2-4-18: Abracadabra did not win a Medal this year either. But every year she gets better, and better. Next year will be her year, just wait and see...

1-27-19: And Abra has entered herself in the Sornieth Winter Games once again, competing under the light of a Moon that has just gone through a rather unusual Eclipse... ( )

2-8-19: Abra did not win a medal this year, but she had a lot of fun anyway. And now she has a whole year to practice and get better. Next year will be different, she's sure of it...

2-14-19: Abracadabra has now entered a new stage in her life: Grandmotherhood. Her adopted son has just had 3 adorable sons of his own. Abra cannot decide what excites her more: The fact that she is a grandmother, or the fact that all three of her grandsons seem to have some pretty impressive magic to call on…

1-26-20: The year has turned, and the Crystalline Gala has returned to Sornieth…and with it, the Sornieth Winter Games. This year, all the dragons of the Clan plan to attend at least two days of the Games, whether as competitor or spectator. Abra, of course, is going as a competitor, in the Cross-Country Skiing Event, like usual. And this time, she has managed to convince Lumos to compete as well! ( ) Hopefully one of them will win a medal…

2-7-20: Sadly, neither Abracadabra nor Lumos won a medal this year. Of course, there’s always next year, and once Lumos stops playing coy, and pretending that he does not want to compete ( ) , they can start training together for a better performance next time…

3-7-20: Abra was rather surprised today when one of the more stand-offish familiars in the hoard suddenly decided he wanted to get to know her better. She is not complaining however, as the Amberwing Wavskimmer is very good company--except at night of course. Somehow Abra has got to figure out how to teach him to stop humming all night long…

6-3-20: Unfortunately, the Amerbwing Waveskimmer is still humming. A lot. But perhaps now Abracadabra will be able to talk some better sense into him about it: The Waveskimmer has Awakened! Surely this means he will be more willing to listen to logical arguments about dragons needing to sleep at night now? Wait, did that humming just get louder? And...Where did that Crested Waveskimmer come from? And why, oh why is it joining the Amberwing Waveskimmer in a humming duet?

...Oh dear…It doesn't look like Abra's lessons on when it is and is not polite to hum are going that well...

6-4-20: Abra is still trying to figure out how to convince her Amberwing Waveskimmer to stop humming--and how to stop its new friend from joining in the chorus. Fortunately, a somewhat expected Event has distracted her from horrifying visions of a mater par of Waveskimmers and a whole family of nightly hummers: Her Sickle Kamaitachi, who retreated to the Vault years ago, has returned! Abracadabra can no more explain his sudden re-interest in Clan life than any other dragon whose "Vault Familiar" has re-emerged in recent moonturns, but she is very, very happy to see him again. And maybe, just maybe, he can use his own version of "persuasion" to make the birds be quiet? Its worth a thought....

1-24-21: Another year, another Crystalline Gale, another…argument? Oh dear. It seems that Abra’s plans to include Lumos in the Games again this year have a bit of a snag, as Lumos is bound and determined not compete. Well, a little persuasion can go a long way… ( )

…And Abracadabra is very, very good at persuading her wonderful mate to try new things, or even to repeat old ones--hopefully better this time. Lumos will, in fact, be heading to the slopes along with Abracadabra this year, as the pretty female Skydancer tries yet again for a Cross-Country Skiing Medal, and her mate makes a second attempt to Place on the Alpine Slopes…

2-7-21: Well, neither Abra nor Lumos won a medal this year, but there is always next year. And in the meantime, they have the very great pleasure of watching in pride as their children Bombarda and Alakazam accept their own Silver Medals, for an excellent performance in Curling. ( ) Abra cannot be happier for her two oldest children. And perhaps someday soon she and Lumos will be the ones on the stand, accepting a medal. After all, now that he has competed twice, Lumos is sure to want to compete again next year too, right?

3-12-21: Abracadabra had an odd dream last night. She seemed to be in a strange tent, surrounded by pillows. For some reason, it has put her in mind of those scrolls she had read when she first came here, the ones that spoke of strange caves filled with wonderous treasures that could only be opened by certain key words. It was from one of these scrolls that she originally took her name. Is this why she is remembering the scroll now? Perhaps she should go read it again and see if there was something she missed the first time….
