 Nettle
a lucky find

One cold day, very cold for Wind territory's mild winters, the gatherers River and Juniper went out on a scavenging trip. As they searched through piles of scrap and plucked winter berries, Juniper's keen ears picked up a small sound. Following it led her to a tiny tundra, abandoned, emaciated, and freezing. She wrapped him in her mantle and rushed him back to the Clan.

There, his condition was discovered- the child was Shade-touched, but only just. His poor health had nearly killed the infection, leaving him with just a minor case. He was deemed safe to keep around and Juniper, with her soft heart, took him under her wing.

That child was, of course, little Nettle, many winters ago. He has grown from a scrawny hatchling to a scrawny adolescent. The Shade within him leaks from his eyes, leaving him blind, and constantly wiping dark goo from his cheeks. He is a shy boy, easily frightened, often hiding behind his adoptive mother, and speaks in a hoarse whisper. He is very cautious and gentle, and very very good at finding useful items, even without sight. He seems at edge in town, much more relaxed on his and his mothers' gathering trips, far out in the steppes or deep in the forest.
