Blackberry searches the lands high and far with a single goal in mind: to find the ingredients in his mama's special recipe.
She had took a crackled scroll out every time she brewed and rolled the yellowed pages carefully when she was done, tucking it carefully back into her apron.
He had asked if he could take a peek, a small look, just a glance! But every time, she simply shook her head and said in that raspy voice that comes with old age "You will find out yourself, son. You don't need this old page."
Every dish she made looked so extravagant, yet was so simple. The true magic began when she set the plates down upon the tables and the warm waft of herbs hit your nostrils. You would take a small tender bite, and the flavours will always surprise you, no matter how many times you had already tried it. Just the right amount of salt and sugar, just the perfect amount of zest... she was a truly amazing cook. Blackberry sighed.
He had inquired what ingredients there were, how much did she put in, how long did she leave it frying or boiling? But every time, she laughed and said "Son, you will know this yourself soon. You don't need the old me."
He claws his way up mountains, swims through rapids and flies against gale force winds. He sniffs the air for the right scent, but that delicious waft he's looking for... he has not yet found. There must be a special ingredient, one that she keeps hidden within the scribbles of those rolled pages, an ingredient too great to be simply told or spoken, one that has to be discovered by one's own will.
He meets old friends, makes new ones, listens hard to the advice of elders. Learns the way of the vast ocean, the great forests and the silent desert. He searches the lands high and far with a single goal in mind: to find the ingredients in his mama's special recipe.
