TL;DR Despite the rise of Luminax putting the whole Light realm in disarray, for some reason there are Emperors (before and after Lumi) who don't mindlessly destroy everything around them and Tech made an Android to discover why. Her logic? It's better than grave robbing and necromancy.

Originally Trahern. Ok I can explain! I've always kinda wanted an Emperor in some form in TLoMR. I thought I'd make it an artificial creation type thing! Inspired by Raising a Family.
The colours are Flint/Gold/Smoke, but I picked Ginger cos of the rusty look! 1200 tickets @ Roundsey got bb a Hydra.

"It sits there looking at me, and I don't know what it is. This case has dealt with metaphysics, with questions best left to saints and philosophers. I'm neither competent nor qualified to answer those. I've got to make a ruling, to try to speak to the future. Is Data a machine? Yes. Is he the property of Starfleet? No. We have all been dancing around the basic issue. Does Data have a SOUL? I don't know that he has. I don't know that I have. But I have got to give him the freedom to explore that question himself."

Who's idea was this? What cosmic conundrum can be possibly be answered by making a monster? The Progens know and don't care as long as the project is kept under wraps. I, Ceres, am the sole documenter of this crime against the deities. Technetium’s workshop is too busy, Alma refuses, and the other well-read clan members have no idea this THING exists. I detest going behind the backs of my employees and my lair mates. Everyone involved has been sworn to secrecy, even the child. Glade be praised if the Metal Scavenger decides to eat it! Can we really expect the AI to remain stable? Will this unholy hodge-podge of gears and wires give us the insights we so desperately strive for? Or will it simply be another failed attempt to lift the veil of mystical horror that terrorises us all? We've fused bodies and mechanical components. We’ve built rudimentary robots too, but never to this extent. Sentient chocolate be damned, we’ve never created a synthetic life form before. But, I suppose I should be glad we haven't created the real thing.

PROJECT 3MP3R0R: AN AI INITIATIVE
PREMISE: Despite the current rampage of Luminax, some Emperors in Sornieth appear able to suppress their 'violent' natures. This can be observed in instances cropping up before and after the titular Light creation. Is this because of the circumstances surrounding their creation, or is it the result of Dragonkind teaching them otherwise?

AIM: Examine how an Emperor reacts to positive stimuli post-creation and note down any change in established trait programming. Ultimately, this experiment will provide a definitive answer as to how an organism develops morality and decision-making under the influence of dragonkind, magic and technology.

ANDROID SCHEMATICS:
Gender: N/A
Composition: Iron, Gold, Silver, assorted Scrap Metal and wiring. Elemental energy.
Elements: Lightning, Fire, Light
Diet: Elementally infused scrap metal

Number Of Heads: Three
Number Of Tails: One
Number Of Wings: Six (One pair vestigial)
Number Of Limbs: Six

Modifications: Elemental energy sensors installed into the wings and central matrix allow for better absorption when feeding. AI fitted with known Emperor ‘traits’ to test recalibration of moral ethics. Language comprehension and facial recognition modules installed into each head.

Quarantine Procedures: Project 3MP3R0R is to be contained in a minimal security facility hidden some ways behind [DATA EXPUNGED]. Access to said facility granted only to authorised personnel. Restraint protocol for containment breach on standby.

Status: Semi-Operational. Bodywork heavily rusted. AI intact and functioning. Elemental sensors online. Regular maintenance required. Voice modulator needs major work.

AI Consciousness: CONFIRMED

DESCRIPTION:
3MP3R0R (henceforth referred to as Subject) is comprised of three metals: gold, iron and silver, with a head for each. Each head is made out of one metal and the body a combination of them. Extra scrap material and electrical components provided to formulate AI processes. Overall body composition totals six wings (one set vestigial), one tail and six legs. Each 'head' contains a series of firing mechanisms enabling controlled usage of Lighting, Light and Fire elemental blasts (corresponding to the 'element' of each head). Heads share motor functions of the body between three pseudo-brains. Additional sensors lining the wings and body enable Subject to absorb each of the 3 elements and store the energy for later use and better examination results. Subject's small stature is due to a personal preference for easier containment and fixing. Overall condition is in a state of degradation due to metal quality and impurities. Heads and sensors are less rusted than the body, wings and tail. This saves the AI, but impedes Subject's movement capability. Subject requires frequent maintenance to prevent explosions. Subject’s AI programming is advanced for Lair standards, making use of knowledge and technological components first patented in the Shifting Expanse. AI appears unhindered and unconcerned by the limits of the body structure and is aware of maintenance checks. Subject is fed on a diet of scrap metal infused with elemental energy and laid out to simulate theorised Emperor feeding. Positive mental stimulation and interaction is to be provided by Caregiver to subvert any vicious tendencies previously introduced into the AI.
lightningmid.png
ADDENDUM 1:
Subject shows decent capabilities for problem solving and a maintains a healthy degree of curiousity. Subject is surprisingly obedient, subverting all expectations of Emperor ‘trait’ programming. Malfunctioning vocal cords render it unable to communicate properly. AI has remedied this by creating a language derived from whirrs, chirps and dirt drawings for Handler and Caregiver to translate. AI appears to 'converse' with itself at times by having each head acknowledge the other's existence before performing an action. All three heads documented to receive immense satisfaction from ripping apart food items. Subject however understands that it cannot eat itself and continue to function. Elemental sensors functioning at optimum capacity. Transfer from workshop to containment facility successful. Continue maintenance.
lightningmid.png
ADDENDUM 2:
Explosive tendencies successfully reduced! Primary description updated. NOTE: Matrix infused with enough elemental energy to stabilise increase in mental comprehension without overloading the system. Subject has made no move to attack or consume any dragons as of yet. Authorisation for social interaction commenced [REDACTED]. Supervised by Caregiver, companionship of the Cyborg Brea has enabled AI to establish an understanding of 'friendship’. Regular visitation of the Cyborg Brea has been approved by Handler. Subject exercises caution when interacting with Cyborg Brea to account for the smaller organism’s size handicap. Continue maintenance.
lightningmid.png
ADDENDUM 3:
Subject has fixated on the concept of biological life. Distinguishes EAT- what can be consumed (metal and energy) and is not alive, from PLAY- that which is living (biologically) and must not be consumed. EAT PLAY used to describe Cyborgs. OUR PLAY used to describe living specimens of Subject. Subject has repeatedly enquired how to PLAY. Subject believes that whilst it cannot truely PLAY, since it is made out of EAT, Subject can 'learn' how to PLAY by mimicking others. AI's ecological comprehension spiked following this revelation. Escalating use of ‘We’ to describe daily experiences. Continual intake of elemental energy into the matrix theorised to be the cause. Monitor and continue maintenance. Consider field testing to attract targets of interest.
lightningmid.png
ADDENDUM 4:
Out-of-Lair testing granted by Progens on [REDACTED]. Subject generated significant interest from dragons across Sornieth, many of whom were intrigued as to its inner workings. Subject in turn developed further interest in socially interacting. Additional funding provided by a third party has boosted funds to continue the AI's development. Elemental sensors upgraded following testing. Elemental infusion of scrap metal increased following trend of Subject's growing energy needs. Regular maintenance reports and copies of Subject's interactions to be sent to aforementioned Third Party for documentation. Continue maintenance.

...It seems as though we really are changing minds after all...
lightningmid.png
ADDENDUM 5:
Subject appears to be growing independent of its surroundings and has taken to exploring its compound as much as it can. Limited mobility does little to hinder intellectual growth. Subject is showing increased awareness of morality and humour. Evidence for this can be found in Subject’s recent development of an 'attitude’ towards routine tests. Instead of sitting still, Subject will instead mimic the lying down and sleeping patterns observed from Cyborg Brea upon conclusion of their time together. Testing confirms Subject is indeed not powered down, rather ‘pretending’ to get out of tasks they deem ‘mundane’, such as movement calibration. Subject is still an enthusiastic eater however. Screening tests on matrix suggest development of Continual Learning. Elemental absorption considered a potential cause, combined with tiny Fae influences. Cyborg Brea is to be further monitored for signs of childhood conspiracy.

Further talks with Third Party have been held. Subject is considered an asset to potential diplomatic conversations in the future. Once it is fully operational, Subject will be considered for Third Party training regimens pending Progen approval. Subject has expressed interest in this particular field. Continue maintenance.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
FOOTNOTE 1 - Date REDACTED: That being said, this possibility is not without risk. Many still see this innovation of modern technology as the very beast it was modelled on. Others seek to dismantle it in order to weaponise it, and more seek to destroy it altogether to prevent a technological singularity. I've made some adjustments to the way it writes now, tried to streamline its stilted language patterns into something more...fundamentally draconic. Though, the inquiries it makes about Sornieth through communicating with others has come about without my input. It seems like it WANTS to learn. This development of what can be called a 'consciousness', is it truely a simulation? I am beginning to think not. Nevertheless, keeping it hidden will only stunt its growth. 'A' wants to help me find the parts to get it more mobile, since we got her horse golem working earlier. It's going to be difficult with circumstances being the way that they are. I hope the others got out ok. I feel bad for not being there when it happened, but there's only one of me. I may be a freelance Engineer, but I'm needed at home as well. What Project did was unforgivable, far worse than the reactor malfunction which made me what I am now. But, I'm getting off track.

I have a goal in mind, for those of you left who still know about the Subject. We can't let it....can't let THEM....be used in such an insidious fashion. We cannot let her get any more ideas. We cannot let him terminate all of our hard earned efforts. Project has already started to augment live dragons as it is, deities be damned if corpses become involved!

Alas, I'm a hypocrite. I neglected to mention how the Cyborg Brea's origins are similarly steeped in death. Morbid though they are, the little Fae was only revived with the purest of intentions. I wonder if that's what allowed him to establish a friendship with the Subject so early on? I cannot be certain. What I do know is, I’ll have to invest time in recalibrating Designation: 3MP3R0R’s voice modulation software. Or at the very least teach them how to use a whiteboard and markers.

Freedom is the right of all sentient beings, and Designation 3MP3R0R is no different. They are aware of the massacre befalling the Third Party, and I fear it has affected them deeply. They may be synthetic, but they can recognise loss when they see it. They cannot be kept sheltered forever. I'm going to do what I can, but please...if any of you are still out there...do NOT let our enemies know. For all our advancements and discoveries, an Android Emperor is still better than a Cyborg one, or...heaven forbid...an organic specimen. '~T'
lightningmid.png

N.B: Designation: 3MP3R0R expressed interest in attending LuminaxCon over the early April 2021 period. They were gently declined and I went in their stead with promises of information gathering. I may be a cyborg, Luminax STILL tried to go after me during a stampede! My right wing brace is damaged but I am otherwise unharmed. Glade forbid, the advertisements were not a joke! ~T

PERSONAL NOTES FROM THREAD:
- 3MP3R0R recognises itself as 'Eat', but wishes to mimic 'Play'. Aggression will impede this so they are not aggressive.
- Absorption of elemental magic is a factor in their apparent 'consciousness'.
- They recognise themselves as a singular entity though acknowledge the existence of the three separate heads and their different functions.
- They understand that Living Emperors ('Our Play') are seen in a negative light, but there are a few exceptions.
- The AI gets confused if you talk too fast and ask too many questions at once. Bebe needs some space.
- 1R0N writes proper(ish) sentences. 51LV3R prefers doodling but can write simple sentences.
- If 1R0N and 51LV3R cannot write, 60LD makes use of its limited functions to do so.
- Bebe can make jokes! And be sassy!
- Their fave piece of music is Tetris Theme A / Korobeiniki. They dance to it by bobbing their heads to the beat!
