  • his mother took away his original pearl when he was still a hatchling, then promptly abandoned him and his siblings to the dark forest
  • he eventually made a new pearl, though it's significantly smaller, misshapen, and dull grey
    • has a difficult time with adding to it, and will sometimes argue with himself about whether or not it's 'worth it'
    • is both vehemently protective, and ashamed, of it, and prefers to keep it out of sight
    • has considered changing breeds because of it all
  • Doesn't hide his frustrations in regards to Kafziel and Howler's inappropriate antics
