Not many dragons would consider being raised by a murdering worshiper of a strange deity a good thing. For Yatagarasu, he was on his own since he was able to hold a blade, but he adopted some practices from his father. One of those was worshiping Jashin, a deity that would grant a follower immortality in return for sacrifices. That ended up being helpful for a young necromancer just starting out. It was sometimes hard finding bodies that were good enough after they had been put in the dirt. But fresh kills? It was like killing two birds with one stone! With every kill, Yatagarasu would give it to Jashin and keep the body after, using it to practice his necromancy. But necromancy can only do so much. For someone like Yatagarasu, it was too limiting and not nearly as strong as he wanted it to be. Maybe that was why he found an old temple dedicated to a dark force that had almost claimed the planet he stood on. A force that, at one point, challenged the Eleven themselves. That temple proved promising. It was a new chance to study something far more interesting than just basic necromancy. Yes, the Shade was the answer he had been looking for. A force that could mold and change itself into anything, sometimes possessing its own will and ideas separate from the whole force. An object that could easily infect dragons and beasts alike. A force that could possess a dead body, no matter how fresh or decayed it was. Yatagarasu had begun to dabble in something considered worse than the dark arts. He started to study the Shade and all it could offer him. He hoped to use its power to grow in his own might, but he soon discovered that it could be easily controlled as long as boundaries were in place. He began infecting his kills with the Shade, letting it worm its way through the bodies and control it. This gave even more power to the corpses he brought back. It was only a matter of time before Yatagarasu began to dabble in that same power with himself. That was how he gained his interesting and unique ability to use his powers to grow extra limbs. Not only were these extra limbs helpful in combat, but they were useful in everyday activities. Much to his dismay, a lot of dragons will approach him, asking him to help them carry something. Yet such an ability was something to be desired by others, he understood, but his powers were greater than just carrying someone's groceries around! Alas, he doesn't argue too much. He's left to his own devices most of the time. Able to focus on what he wishes to see and do. And most leave him alone, unless they feel being a sacrifice to Jashin. by Dew |
