Biography

Rosail's Right-Hand Man

Quote:
‍ ‍  ‍ Pride isn’t something that comes from the heart or the mind. Pride lives in the blood.

‍  ‍ ‍  ‍ Rakan has always known pride. It was obvious early on that he would be an excellent fighter. As a hatchling, he displayed great bravery and borderline destructive energy - always chewing things, dragging things about that he didn’t need to drag, and trying to play fight with other hatchlings that didn’t necessarily want to play.

‍ ‍  ‍ His robust energy, great strength, and precise eye fell into greater order as he aged, and he matured into a fine warrior. His most sincere wish was the defend the clan against threats. While nobody doubted his true desire to keep them safe, his other motive was no secret. He loved battle. His nature aptitude for it led to a sense of pride that flourished alongside his physical prowess. He was a blossoming young warrior, and he was thrilled to face all the future’s battles.

It never truly crossed into arrogance. Rosail made sure of that. The older warrior saw such promise in the younger dragon, and he approached Rakan and offered him a position at his side. Thrilled, Rakan accepted. He admired Rosail’s honor and prowess, and he could imagine no better mentor to learn from.

‍ ‍  ‍ Rosail’s practical knowledge and steady hand helped temper Rakan’s energy, and always reminded him to keep that pride in check. When Rakan’s enthusiasm got the better of him, Rosail was there to remind him to use his head. For Rakan, pride is not a poison. It’s a fuel. He’s its master, and it is his muse.

‍ ‍  ‍ Rakan admired Rosail more than anyone else in the world. He enjoyed the early days of mentorship, but he eventually grew into a more serious role. Rakan became Rosail’s right-hand man, with shared responsibilities and shared respect among the clan.

‍ ‍  ‍ Raken took the job seriously, and still does. But when it was emotionally difficult when Rosail retired. When the elder warrior laid down the sword, Rakan felt lost. Without the clan’s great protector, who would keep them safe?

‍ ‍  ‍ That plucky, slightly-too-much enthusiasm Rakan had for his job boiled hot in the early days of Rosail’s entirement. Rakan looked for enemies everywhere and rushed quickly into every battle, exhausting himself in his paranoid that without Rosail, enemies would pour from the cracks in energy stone.

‍ ‍  ‍ In time, it became clear that there was no need. The clan had found a time of prosperity and relatively little danger. The stressed young warrior realized too late that he’d thrown himself into a needless little war. His strength and devotion remained unchanged, but that pride? Well, maybe that pride was just a little bit bruised.

‍ ‍  ‍ In the end, Rakan was happy for a chance to rest. His good humor and cheerful nature returned to the surface, and anyone alienated before returned happily to his side. Currently, he’s enjoying calmer and safer days. He rests more than he once did, and he keeps good company, but there’s no changing a warrior’s spirit. He loves running, sparing, and hunting...and when danger comes calling again, he’ll be the first to meet it.
