Sometimes, you’ll come across someone who can make you feel everything after feeling nothing. Sometimes, you’ll walk where you’ve walked in the past, yet know you’ve never been there before. He’ll take you to picnic in the Everbloom Gardens, like many others have. And you’ll bask in the paradise of each other’s company, and the sweetness of the air. You’ll be surrounded by the lushness of life, and the spread of sweet desserts, and the clinking of ice as you sip your drinks together. At the Rotrock Rim you stand and you’re reminded of the resilience of life. Contorted forms rise from the ground and you nearly miss the importance, but you realize they’re just finding their way in this world with what they’re given, just as you are. You’ll walk the Greatwyrm’s Breach and discover the beauty of history. The dampness will do nothing to marr the revenant feel of the past and the weight of the murals you study together. And there’s pain and horror in them, but wonder and appreciation too. Then you’ll stand at the base of mountains. No one returns from the Cloudscrape Crags because no one can endure the unforgiving weather or even see its harsh peaks; and it’s a wall of despair and cold and danger. Yet you can stand there together and think “this...this I can do. I can do anything.” You would climb the Reedcleft Ascent over and over. With the wind flowing past and the dizzying height, you feel unstoppable. It’s exhilarating and terrifying all at once, and beneath you the rapids fall down and down and the sound of rushing water fills your ears. Here, out of breath and filled with adrenaline, you really are on top of the world. There’s no one you’d rather share it with. In the darkness of the night you’ll walk the Wispwillow Grove. It’s a softer noise here, of crickets and crinkling leaves. And underneath the moonlight, and with the glowing blue of the plants nearby, smiles are illuminated. Then there’s a cold ocean breeze and the stone floor is anything but comfortable. Yet when the light first touches the horizon and spreads and spreads, you gasp. You can see the world laid bare, and as far as your sight can reach you feel nothing but enchanted as you sit atop the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. It’s the unknown, you say. That’s what drives them into the Leviathan Trench. It’s what makes their breath catch and their heart pound and it’s what drives their curiosity. You stand there and look into the deepest part of the world, and you feel like diving too. There’s no question about who would dive with you. It’s terrifying and there’s a very real chance that something could go wrong. There are shouts and commands and you see the frantic movements of all the workers. Yet when lightning strikes the Tempest Spire, you’re mesmerized at the sheer power of it all. Safe should be the furthest word from your mind. Safe is not molten lava gushing this way and that over the Molten Scar. Safe is for home and not a speck of danger in sight. Yet when he flies back with a grin and a lump of glowing metal, safe is all you feel. You could lose yourself in it all; you could lose yourself at the Starwood Strand. It’s like a dream and you’re infinite. The stars glimmer above and under and beyond and you call it the most breathtaking sight you’ve ever seen. He calls it the second-most. There are times when you’ll come across someone who can make you feel everything. You’ll visit the extraordinary and you’ll visit the mundane, and everything shimmers. And sometimes it doesn’t last, but sometimes it does. Beautiful, he’ll call you. And you’ll never know anything else. xxxxx
