     Tohil the Youth
       no threat to power

━━ story ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Tohil stood on the cliff overlooking the deep waters below. Scouts indicated the monster was down there, deep down there, and wreaking havoc on the ocean floor beyond where dragon eyes could see.

Tohil looked from one side to the other, where the army he’d raised stood ready with their weapons and armor. Guardians arrayed in steel plates and Faes prepared with tomes. Every size and shape of dragon in between of all elements stood at his side, prepared to put down this monster once and for all. Among them, a sleek Ridgeback with spines of molten metal turned a blue eye on Tohil.

“You know, I hate the water.” Ayel grinned. To hate was his favorite thing.

Tohil smiled back, even though he wasn’t sure he enjoyed Ayel’s attitude. Hate was useful, but unweildy in the wrong hands. Tohil couldn’t help but feel Ayel’s were just that. All the same, he made a useful general in this assault against the underwater monstrosity.

“On your word, then, Ayel,” he said.

Ayel coiled briefly, looking down to the water, his nose like a spear pointing toward death itself. “For Sornieth!” he bellowed, and his wings flared open.

On cue, the army of dragons roared and screamed, plunging into the water. Wind dragons held oxygen for the dragons unable to breathe beneath the waves, Water and Arcane dragons parted the sea, and Light dragons led the way with magic torches in their hands. Somewhere in the middle of the charge, Ayel joined.

Waiting until they all disappeared from his sight, Tohil looked to the sky. Somewhere up there, he knew, his parents were locked in an eternal struggle that could rain fire upon Sornieth and they would not care.

Gritting his teeth, he growled underneath his breath. “You’re next.”

━━ history ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This dragon's birth was no natural occurrence. The clash of old deities, Belenus and Andraste, brought heavenly energies to the surface of Sornieth. Imbued with light and dark, Tohil’s egg was created, and he was left to fend for himself at an early age when it became clear his parents weren't interested in much more than fighting each other.

Other gods, large and small alike, however, did take notice. Tohil was as moody and taciturn a hatchling as he is an adult, bringing out the worst side of one god in particular, Puck. The little god of nothing, shocked and slightly dismayed at the appearance of a demigod on the plane of Sornieth, watched his development from a distance and whispered questions that no one, even the Eleven, knows the answer to. These questions became Tohil’s greatest enemy. The quiet life he leads, watching the skies and recording the weather, bring no answers. Tohil unwittingly followed Puck to the Tempest Chase, where he works as a weather forecaster, predicting the movements of dangerous creatures like Aer Phantoms and Cloud Chasers. None know Tohil watches the horizons for more than clouds.

Tohil waits, observes, prays to the Eleven that he is allowed a chance to speak with them someday. That they may bring an end to the centuries of conflict in Sornieth. Tohil believes in a world without godly intervention, and to that end, he tries to speak to those gods. Believing the Eleven should leave the world to their creations, he hopes that someday exaltations shall cease and that the gods need not the service of their subjects. Someday, he hopes, the conflicts will end. Perhaps even prevent the further birth of creations such as himself.

As elemental energies surged and new monsters rose in their wake, dragons found they were no longer the most dangerous creatures of Sornieth, not hardly. Tohil has since dedicated his life to striking down creatures that have become too powerful for their own good, too powerful for the good of Sornieth. Careful to not exert his own powers, he raises fighters in the name of all dragons, for the good of all dragons. Some beings were never meant to be gods.

Tohil’s greatest strength comes from the energies of Earth he was steeped in before he was even hatched. Something like the gods (and the offspring of gods), Tohil has a staying power that few understand. Though Tohil has little liking or respect for the gods, there is one that he feels compelled to appreciate: the Earthshaker. It’s said that he wanted nothing but for his siblings to work together. Tohil doesn’t believe they will, but likes to imagine they might. As a minor god, Tohil doesn’t have a familiar, but his ability to wield Earth magic sometimes manifest itself in a self-propelled Spirit of Earth.

━━ enemies ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Sopping Tidelord Sackdoll Tohil’s current target rose shortly after the Tidelord’s disappearance, and Tohil wonders if that isn’t a coincidence. Whatever the case, even if Euros the Volcano Leviathan wasn’t able to defeat the Tidelord, Tohil thinks she’s become too powerful. Multiple encounters with the Chase have proven inconsequential to her, despite the weapons and magic they can bring to bear. Euros is just too large. Tohil has spent much of his time these days recruiting dragons brave enough to train and one day fight this underwater monstrosity.

Next on Tohil’s list of creatures too powerful to exist is Denali a spirit of a frosted forest in Ice territory that seems to be immune to every form of magic and metal known to dragons. Even though she never leaves her own wood and hasn’t yet bothered any creature except those that wander through her woods unaware, Tohil doesn’t think she’ll remain there for long. After all, soon enough the heat from Lightnings’ furnaces will touch even her forest, and she’ll likely not stand for that. Tohil would like to know how to vanquish her before that happens.

━━ trivia ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
» Tohil’s surname comes as a gift from Puck: Waningrift. Tohil doesn’t know Puck predicts the gap between gods is shrinking, and one day soon they might have to come together to face a threat greater than whatever Tohil imagines.
»
» As a minor god himself, Tohil has the ability to control the weather. He has only used this power once and vowed to not use it again.
»
» meta Any hatchlings Euros and Tohil produce are not their hatchlings, but rather are Leviathan hunters ordained by Tohil.

aesthetic: Tohil’s appearance recalls a setting sun over the ocean, and he likes to think that’s metaphorical for something.
likes: weather, quiet, strong tea, plateaus and boulders
dislikes: the gods and elements, water, crowds, his powers
